I’ve been a regular customer at this coffee shop and at elations brewery and it’s surprising to find myself in this situation. I was asked to leave and police was called simply for being in thought while journaling, which is a normal part of my writing process. If looking around triggers insecurities in the staff, perhaps they need to reconsider their role in a public space. Everyone deserves to express themselves freely without fear of judgment.
