Red Brick Bar — Restaurant in Norman

The worst bar in Norman. I’ve lived downtown for almost 15 years and if someone suggests red brick bar, I keep my eye on that person. I’ve seen it all happen here; from designated drivers being charged for water to your card being “pre-authorized “ and this charge never coming off, even after you pay in cash. The bar staff is unwelcoming as all hell. They smoke behind the bar and charge groups to sit in a booth. They’ll id senior citizens and main st regulars with grey streaks in their hair. They might as well be a members only club because they’re not a welcoming business. The owner made himself unwelcome at venues hosting pool league tournaments so he got his own. He’s still as insufferable though. His staff is 1099, which is tax fraud, given their circumstances. Inside and out disgusting. Everything is cheap except...

Drew was amazing tonight! He is the reason I’d come back. We never had to ask for anything. He was there no matter if we were outside or playing pool making sure our drinks were full and we didn’t have a need for anything.

To whoever runs this place, we were some of the very few patrons here on this slow Wednesday night. Paying $10 for a booth to sit in when there’s not another soul in the bar is insanity. I can understand VIP on maybe a weekend but you’re literally running a tiny dive bar where you don’t even have an actual soda gun or name brand Red Bull/Sprite/etc. “VIP” booths is not the vibe for this place, fix it. Absolutely the Best Dive Bar in Norman. The owners and regulars are friendly and open and the bartenders always work hard. All kinds of great local music comes through here, and on Fridays at 10, after live music early, the karaoke is a blast, with an absolutely gigantic song library, and a sound system worthy of singing real rock and roll, rapping out some old skool hip hop, or jumping on stage with a crowd to screech out Bohemian Rhapsody.
