I love the ramen here, it is so flavorful and filling, the first time I visited we got in around 40 minutes before close and originally sat down to eat, but the ramen took a little bit to come out so we took it to-go instead of trying to rush eating it there. It was amazing and I would give them 5 stars, but when we went back for more ordering to-go from the start, it came all separated, the broth in the bottom of a big cardboard type of container, and then the noodles, meat and everything else in a plastic container that rests above that. let me just say it is the worst to go set up I've ever had in my life. It's difficult getting the plastic part out of the broth part because the broth makes it all slippery and there's no lip to grab onto. The noodles set in a stuck together lump that even after soaking in broth for 20 minutes is still hard to pull apart and can be picked up in one conglomerated chunk of noodles (as pictured). I also noticed that there is significantly less broth, (like half the amount of broth) when I order curry ramen to go, but the spicy ramen has the normal amount of broth. we have asked before to not have the weird plastic middle container separating everything and they obliged once, but then when we asked again they didn't. however the broth amount being significantly lower is probably the main concern, when we order extra noodles there is usually enough broth to have them with, but the curry to go has barely enough broth to cover just what comes with it normally. I'd say it's probably more worth it to eat in here, but I'm disabled and prefer taking food home most...

The taste was absolutely fantastic. I’m Japanese and quite particular about ramen, often visiting renowned ramen shops in Japan about three times a week. Even with my high standards, I never imagined I could find ramen of this quality here in Norman.

What stood out the most for me were the broth and the chashu pork. The broth was undeniably authentic and delicious, with no complaints whatsoever. The chashu was grilled right before being served, giving it an amazing aroma. Additionally, I imagine it’s quite challenging to source noodles of this quality in the U.S., but I was impressed that they could provide such excellent noodles here.

The soft-boiled egg was also great, with a perfectly runny yolk. However, the yolk was a bit cold, perhaps because it was stored in the refrigerator, which could be improved.

Upon entering the shop, the staff greeted me in a way reminiscent of Japanese ramen shops, and their Japanese pronunciation was impressive. I was surprised at how they managed to gather such fluent Japanese speakers here.

That said, as a Japanese person, I could fully understand the Japanese spoken, and it was a bit embarrassing to hear my comings and goings announced loudly throughout the restaurant when...

The place was packed and I could tell why. The decoration was beautiful with burnt exposed wood everywhere. There were several projections of anime going on to keep your mind occupied and off your phone if your company wasn't entertaining enough. I loved how along one wall the booths were like your own private stall. Bar seating is also available for dining and drinks. There is even plenty of seating if you have to wait for a table. You will be happy you waited. The staff was excellent, welcoming us as soon as we arrived. The food was out promptly and is delicious and high quality. The Chashudon is amazing, with incredibly tender pork and a great flavor. The Spicy Ramen was good but didn't quite hit the high spice level I expected, offering more of a flavorful warmth than intense heat. If you need appetizer suggestions, try the Gyoza and Shishito they will hit the spot. My daughter-in-law, whose birthday we were there for, got the Ninniku Tonkotsu and loved it. She was so happy to try this place for lunch. I highly recommend you give Tamashii Ramen...

So happy to have Tamashii here in Norman now! Went for the first time since they opened two weeks ago. It was hard to decide between the garlic ramen, the curry ramen, and the curry rice. Chose the curry ramen and couldn’t have been more pleased! It was perfect. The pork was nice and smoky from the grill, the base was creamy and luscious. My friend got the spicy ramen and liked it. She said she could have used more spice though. We also had the chashudon and it was good too. A cool side note is that the menu lists icons under each dish for common food allergens. As a person who has allergens, this is very much appreciated. The bottom of the menu also lists all of the Japanese and English names for items you can add to your dish (for small charges). That’s really helpful if you look at a dish and don’t know the Japanese word listed. Simply look at the bottom of the menu and you can see what it is. I love these kinds of thoughtful details. We will definitely be back often for the great service and great food! Thanks for coming to Norman Tamashii!
