After a big OU football win, I strolled into The Lokal riding high on school spirit and hunger, ready to celebrate with some good ol’ Southern comfort food. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken, mentally preparing for a glorious slab of golden, crispy poultry smothered in gravy, accompanied by mashed potatoes and macaroni — a classic. A moment of indulgence.

What I received instead? Three chicken strips. Not a typo. Not even the good kind — I’m talking three sad, dry, slightly burnt sticks of poultry that tasted like they had given up on life halfway through the fryer. If these were chicken's final form, I want a refund on evolution.

The mashed potatoes and mac & cheese did their best to comfort me in this time of betrayal. They were fine, like the kind of fine that makes you go, "Well, at least this isn't also a war crime."

Now, to be fair, the service was solid — our server was friendly and quick despite the post-game chaos. The atmosphere was lively, and honestly, the bar seemed like a great spot to drown your sorrows over what should’ve been a better meal.

All in all, if you're here to drink, watch the game, and yell “Boomer Sooner!” at strangers, this place will treat you right. If you're here for a proper chicken fried chicken… well, you might leave questioning your life choices and craving a TV...

My wife and I were initially going to another place to eat but it would've been a long wait. The Lokal was nearby and we decided to give it a try, and it was the best decision we could've made!

Everything we had was cooked very well, and tasted absolutely amazing! The Bison Meatballs with the blueberry bourbon BBQ sauce was so good, we had to buy a bottle of the BBQ sauce. The steak and chicken sandwich we had were wonderful too. The whole meal from start to finish was great and we couldn't have been more happy with it!

Our server Cade was super helpful and nice, he even helped my wife pick a drink for our meal and she enjoyed it! He was super nice and on point with checking on us and seeing if we needed anything else. It was refreshing to have great service with the wonderful meal.

We will be coming back here to try the rest of the menu. Can't recommend this...

Let me tell y’all something—Lokal pulled up to Norman and did NOT come to play! From the jump, the vibe was chill but elevated, giving exactly what the Boomer neighborhood needed. The space is sooo spacious with a big wrap around bar and plenty of tv's for the sports fanatics.

Shout out to Tristan—our server who deserves his own employee of the month parking spot. That man was giving “waiterism” to the MAX. Attentive without hovering. Now let’s talk about these drinks. … a Long Island in a mason jar for $10?(unheard around these parts). That’s not just a drink—it’s an experience. Strong, smooth, and wallet-friendly. Trust me...I travel around the Globe. Add in their happy hour deals and rotating specials, and you’ve got a local favorite in the making. Lokal clearly came ready to shake the block.

Welcome to the Boomer neighborhood, Lokal. Cheers to their...

Walked in and was seated right away. Noticed they have both booths and tables, a huge bar, and on the walls big screen TVs for watching sports. The menu has a good selection of appetizers and main dishes. I zeroed in on the buffalo meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gravy, and fried okra. My waitress was friendly, informative, and attentive. The food was excellent and I enjoyed the relaxed environment while dining. The Buffalo meatloaf was exceptionally good. This came with gravy on top of the meatloaf but enough for the mashed potatoes also. Fried okra was served on a separate bowl and was tasty. Overall food, service, and environment were all great. I definitely recommend giving this new place a go.

Spacious newly remodeled area, very open clean areas, covered front patio area right on main street with warmers for cooler seasons. I came during the lull hours (2:30pm) wait staff if happy, friendly, and welcoming. Bar area sits 20+ people. I ordered Fried Deviled Eggs, $9. Spice it up $1 (add Sriracha and bacon crumbs) 6 egg halves with ranch. These are a must have every time I come. I ordered a Fried Chicken Club (recommended from the bartender) $14. It is a lot of food, thick juicy fried chicken sandwich. Quality of the food is that of someone who takes pride in their work. I highly recommend this New location in norman.
