One of the worst experiences I have had dining out. We came here after a shopping trip and seeing a high Google rating. The waiter was prompt in coming over and taking our order and getting us a plate of samosas which were good. The rest of the dinner was all downhill from there.
We ordered for Panneer Tikka Masala, veg biriyani and the ambrosia tikka masala panneer pizza for the kids. Prior to the food being brought to the table, the waiter got our dinner plates. Mine clearly had been no where close to the sink and when I wanted a new one, she exchanged it with a small side plate from the next table !!! The two rice dishes were supposed to come with Raita, but we didn't get that, neither did the waiter stop by to check if everything's ok. When we finally pointed out, she came back with a small cup with about two spoonfuls of raita !! The panned tikka masala itself was ok. The panneer was a bit rubbery but I am used to that in some of the desi joints.
The veggie biriyani's portion was generous but parts of the veggie were burnt and you could smell the charred veggie smell in the food and also smelt overpoweringly of mint. Very average.
While the kids liked the pizza, I had one bite and could make out that they had used raw onions, the panneer was uncooked and cut in pieces (unlike tandoor as they seem to indicate in their menu) and the base itself was just biscuity. Again average ratings.
Again, I would have overlooked all of this and not rated them or written down this detailed review if not for the final surprise. When my bill arrived, I saw that it had a owners discount. I wasn't sure why but I felt like leaving a decent tip. The waitress took the card , and came back explaining I wasn't entitled to the owners discount. While I was not happy about it, I became hopping mad when I see that the new bill not just cancelled the discount, but also had automatically added a 15% gratuity!!!
The kind of food that they served me, the cleanliness of the utensils given to us and the overall experience in no way justified this price of the gratuity expectation, hence this review.
The only saving grace is that they have one of the cleanest and largest restrooms I have seen in an Indian restaurant in...
Read moreMy husband and I were shopping in an outlet mall nearby when we stumbled upon this beautiful Indian restaurant. It is very spacious and it’s family owned. The owners are very kind, loved interacting with them.
We went on a Saturday and thankfully we didn’t have to wait for a table. It has a bar, and you will get Indian beers 🍺 we ordered 2 kingfishers 😍 which is rare to find in the USA. We ordered the corn paneer cheese bites from the appetizer. They were crisp, and tasted really good with our chilled beers.
As an Indian, I’ve grown up eating and enjoying kaju (cashew) masala in my hometown. It’s my absolute favorite when paired with kulcha (sesame flat breads). When I saw kaju curry on the menu at Ambrosia Zaika, I knew I had to try it with their chili naan. The curry was perfectly spiced, the cashews had the perfect texture, the gravy was creamy and rich, it was perfection in every bite. 🤤🤤🤤 I am surely going back to eat it again.❤️
They served the cashew curry with rice, and we were too full to eat anything else. But then my husband saw “paneer potato biryani” on the menu 🍛 and he couldn’t resist, so we ordered it to go.
We ate the biryani next day, and OMG it was delectable 😍🤤 it was the most ambrosial biryani we have ever had, and I am not even exaggerating. We spoke to the owner and the chef and thanked them for this wonderful experience.
We can’t wait to go back and try their lunch bowls and have the paneer potato biryani once again. 🥰🥰
Revisited this place again, and I was not disappointed. Consistent taste and service. We ordered the veg dry Manchurian, masala papad and the potato-paneer biryani. It was...
Read moreOrdered takeout of the Chicken Platter (malai, tandoori, lahori) as spicy, chole chana masala as medium spicy with rice pilaf rather than basmati, raita sauce, tandoori roti, and the chopped vegetable salad. Everything was great and had amazing flavor! The spicy chicken platter was hot but not overwhelming, it was a nice heat and came with a good variety of flavors and white/dark meat chicken--its a nice way to sample different dishes. We ordered online and picked up right in time, but the food was all cold by the time we made it the 5 minute drive home. We ordered the same items a few months ago but the rice and veggie salad looked different this time but we're still tasty. The food was enough for two people to each have two meals worth although it did seem a bit pricey for takeout, coming to about $50 but we will probably dine in next time to get the full experience.
Restaurant is easy to get to and has plenty of parking. Online ordering is convenient and we will be returning soon to try more items. I wish their online ordering menu had descriptions of all the different meals so I did not have to refer back...
