I would give it Zero stars if I could…
We ordered takeout from Nan King Restaurant online, and it said our food would be ready by 6:45pm. Perfect, right? We show up on time—like responsible, hungry adults—and immediately feel like we stepped into a restaurant-themed escape room. There was one poor soul working. One. He was the host, the waiter, the busboy, possibly the chef, and definitely the only person within a five-mile radius who seemed to know there was a restaurant operating there. The man deserves a raise and a vacation.
Meanwhile, we stood at the front like awkward decorations for a solid 20 minutes. No “hello,” no “we’ll be right with you,” just vibes and the loudest phone in the world ringing non-stop like it was trying to summon the dead. Spoiler: no one ever answered it.
Other diners were seated, clearly waiting to order with menus clutched like they were hoping a genie would appear. Two other takeout customers were waiting when we got there. Two more arrived while we were still trying to figure out what was going on. At this point, it was basically a potluck of confusion.
After about 30 minutes of being ignored, the multitasking hero finally approached us… only to “take” our order, which we had already placed online. So now we’re realizing they never saw the order in the first place and were just starting it now. Fantastic. We sat down, unsure if we should feel optimistic or just cry softly.
Eventually, we gave up and left. We emailed. Then we called the “billing service” number, who very helpfully told us to call the restaurant (lol). Naturally, no one answered—maybe the phone rang itself into a coma. So now we’re out money and food. We ended up at Five Guys, where at least someone looked us in the eye and handed us actual food.
If you're thinking of ordering from Nan King… maybe just stare at your microwave for 45 minutes instead. You'll get the same amount of food, but with way less...
Read moreI’ve been a customer of Nam King for over a year, but my recent visit left me extremely disappointed. I ordered a lunch special: boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice. Unfortunately, the rice was hard, undercooked, and had no flavor beyond the coloring. When I brought this to the attention of the waitress, it took about 5-10 minutes before anyone even appeared at the front to assist me.
The waitress asked what I wanted to do, and I suggested switching to roast pork lo mein. However, instead of offering to exchange the meal, she informed me that there would be an additional charge. I decided against it and requested the check. I still left a tip of more than 20%, which I normally do, despite the poor service. It was only when I was leaving that the waitress apologized, but it felt too late. At no point was there any offer to replace the dish or adjust the bill.
The restaurant was almost empty at 1 p.m., with loud music and lackluster service, making the overall experience even worse. This location is now under new management for the past year and a half, and the quality has significantly declined. It's disappointing to see a place I used to enjoy so much deteriorate like this.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements. No one should be served undercooked food, and when mistakes happen, a simple gesture like offering a replacement or discount goes a long way. Until things change, I can’t recommend Nam...
Read moreFairly certain the majority of the reviews are fake. Dined in and received probably the worst service in the state, along with receiving a dinner which consisted of chicken that tasted reheated and old. Then after immediately and politely telling the person serving me that I did not like the dish, the food was taken back to the kitchen to make them aware, and then brought back out to me to be confronted about it which made me very uncomfortable. Seems like this place was one of those instances were fake good reviews lure unsuspecting guests in (Check each reviewers total review count, the smaller the count the less likely they are real reviews). It's as if just dining here places an unwanted burden on the staff operating the store. 0/10 Will never enter this depressing hellhole of a store again. Sorry dudes, just being honest. Expecting to receive a snarky reply from the store that I can't be asked to read. Also check my reviews for more credibility, I NEVER give low reviews, so to receive anything less than 5 stars from me, it actually has to be a really bad experience, and this is definitely one I will unfortunately remember forever. On top of everything, I'm pretty sure the person serving me added an unauthorized tip to the bill and refused to show me the reason for my charge on my statement being $6 higher than it showed on the receipt. Crazy that this happened in 2024....
