This was a very bad experience--altogether. I got 3 items of food and they all had issues. I'll say upfront that I've been to many Thai food places and know my way around Thai food. The mushroom soup tasted like something was very foul and tasted, literally, like how a garbage dumpster smells. I sent it back only to get really no response, or offer to do something to make things right...nothing. One of the staff kept going over to a table where a couple were eating and this staff kept taking food from the customers' plates, with her hands, and eating and then handling other costumers' plates, etc. That's just really bad ! I'm sure this staff knew the customers at that table but eating with ones hands, while working, and while handling other customers food and plates?! That's just really bad. The 2nd item was fresh rolls, which were sloppy-made and the rice-wraps were not fresh but very rubbery--to the point that I couldn't really eat them--and didn't. The 3rd item was a chicken stir-fry. The chicken was very overcooked and the sauce was just a salty sauce with no flavor really. I watched a couple come in and they had to literally sweep off the food from whoever was seated there before b/c the table wasn't cleaned, (and there was plenty of time and it wasn't too busy there). I'll never make the mistake of going there again. Gross, sloppy, overcooked, and staff was actually eating off costumers' plates, numerous times, while working and causing cross-contamination with her hands. All around a bad...
Read moreCalled “authentic”, but far from it. The WORST Thai I’ve ever eaten, hands down.
The drunken noodles had very little vegetables, and was so salty I could barely eat it. It was made with lo mein noodles, which is inauthentic and unheard of, and makes the dish taste way off.
My wife had the thai fried rice, it was truly flavorless and had almost no vegetables. (See pic and notice the red pepper flakes simply dumped on one spot).
I called them, and politely spoke to them about by sub-par experience. I told them I didn’t expect Chinese lo mein noodles for drunken noodles (this is not how it’s made, ever). He said “that’s how we so it, sorry”. I then said how I didn’t expect crushed red flakes to be dumped on it, but was expecting authentic Thai chilis. He said that’s how it works for anything below “3” spice level. I said that I did get a 3 spice level, to which he replied “well, sorry”. He was very irritated that I called to calmly and politely explain, but was snappy and rude. He offered no recompense for messing up the order either. We ate a small portion and threw the rest in the trash, which is where this food belongs.
Honestly the worst Thai I’ve ever had (and I have eaten a lot). Owners, please remove the words “authentic” from your website and menu: you’re lying to...
Read moreHonestly, I have never had a bad experience at Boon Choo before today, so this is pretty disappointing to write. After attempting to call them 4 times to place a takeout order, I gave in and went into the restaurant to place my order at the counter and wait. Not only were they not on the phone, but the phone didn't ring the entire time I was there leading me to believe that they've simply disconnected their phones with no warning or explanation, so placing a to go order is a waste of time.
When I finally received my to go order, which came to me AFTER people who were behind me in line ordered their food I looked at the portion. If you've ever eaten at Boon Choo you might rave at their generous portion sizes, so my advice is never order anything to go. The amount of broth they gave me doesn't even cover all of the noodles, so instead of being a soup, it's a mushy mess.
As if that wasn't bad enough, they got my order completely wrong and served me something that I didn't order. I feel ripped off by the amount of INCORRECT food I received and completely turned off by the lack of customer service. It will be a while before Boon Choo gets my service again after...
