Moose Cafe 570 Brevard Rd Asheville NC 28806
Convenient place to eat when visiting the Western North Carolina Farmer's Market!
Moments after you are seated, your server will bring to your table, fresh baked biscuits with a special apple sauce.
If you like molasses with your biscuits, just ask for it.
2025 Feb 1 Family came to visit. We talked about eating at Moose Cafe or another place. The vote was 3 to 1 that we eat at the 'other place'.
My son in law was driving and I was navigating. I didn't realize it at that time, but as I gave driving directions to my son in law, I forget that we were going to the 'other' place and I gave him directions to the Moose Cafe.
Much too our surprise and enjoyment, Jacqueline was our server. As she had been when Judy and I had eaten here before, Jacqueline took care of us and our family exceptionally well.
Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, and Jacqueline was taking care of many tables, she took the time to visit with as she went from table to table.
We learned that hurricane Helene had caused extreme stress, especially financial for her family and herself. With her permission we prayed for God to bless her and her family.
It was our privilege and blessing that we could help her, just a little bit, by giving a tip that was above a 'normal' tip.
As for me and my family, from now on, when we visit Moose Cafe, we are going to request that Jacqueline be our server!
2025 Jan 15 Once again my wife and I enjoyed another great meal at Moose Cafe. She had the Homemade Meatloaf Dinner with mashed potatoes and a cup of vegetable soup.
I had the Country Fried Steak Dinner with mashed potatoes and coleslaw.
Our dinner was made special by Jacqueline B our server. Not only was she attentive she took time to chat with us and made us feel special!
2024 Oct 12: I enjoyed two side dishes with my country style steak. One was a baked apple. The other was something I had never eaten before. Baked Vidalia onion. Delicious! See the photo.
Our server Shelby S is one of the best!
2024 Oct 3: I enjoyed a delicious Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. My wife had the meatloaf (she said it was great!). Her sides were mashed potatoes & Pinto Beans. Too much food to eat at one time. Leftovers for tomorrow.😋
Our server Shelly...
Read moreI really cant even give it one star, that's how bad it was. We were treated and taken to our table right away where we sat for 10 minutes and waited for someone to take our drink order. I made eye contact with several waitresses and finally one came over and asked if we had been helped. She was told no not yet. She said she was going to get our server. Immediately a girl walks out, introduces herself, and gets our drink orders. She promptly returns with drinks and biscuits. She takes the order. I ordered meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and side salad. My friend ordered fried chicken, collard greens, and Cole slaw The tea was perfect! The biscuit was big and fluffy. A few minutes later she brings my salad. Wasnt long after, she brought the rest of the food. Thank goodness the mashed potatoes were in a separate bowl. The plate with the meatloaf was covered with grease. I used 3 napkins to soak it up. The other plate had collard green juice spilled on the plate with the chicken soaking it up. Omg I was asked to taste the coleslaw to see if it was alright and was about to throw up. It was spoiled. The waitress was made aware of this. She asked if she could get something else. No was the answer. The meatloaf lacked any kind of flavor, and the mashed potatoes had been sitting for a while, but they were eaten. On top of that, I had to ask for refills of my tea more than once. When asked how was everything while I was paying, I was not impressed. I told the lady everything. She explains that I should have told the manager. Then looks at the receipt and asks if the server took the slaw off. No she didnt. Well it's not old. We make it everyday. Was the answer. I told her just let me pay and I will not come back. I included a pic of the...
Read moreThe last time we ate here was several years ago (we are locals, who cook and eat country foods). We stopped eating here because the food (dinner) was not edible. The seasoning especially on their vegetables was awful, hopefully that has changed. We decided that we would give them another try, for breakfast this time. The parking lot was full (a good sign we thought)and we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We do remember that the biscuits they serve you are the best part of their meals. Unfortunately, we can't say that anymore either. They were homemade but they were flat, heavy, and doughy. My husband never complains about food but he asked our server to take them back and bring more. The 2nd plate of biscuits were a little thicker but they were also tasteless and we couldn't eat them. I think the biscuit maker must have forgot to add salt or baking powder. I must say these were the worst biscuits I've ever tried to eat. The apple butter that comes with the biscuits was good. My husband just ate it out of the little cup it's served in. The eggs, bacon and grits were just ok. We had gravy with our meals too but no biscuits to put it on. Our expectations of hoping things had changed here, were too high. We have marked this restaurant off our list yet again. I must say our server was good and attentive. Sorry Moose Cafe but we would rather eat at a fast food restaurant for breakfast, at least we know we will get a...
