It's been over a decade since I went to Muddy's. There was a hotdog shop owned by Brian Graf that closed down in that spot and Muddy's opened. I wasn't a coffee drinker till I had their ice java.... Eventually I started to grab 2 larges before work, because I would down the first one before I got to work at my shop on New River, only 5 minutes away. It was THE BEST sweet coffee drink I ever had. Some days I would notice the owner, a retired Marine, wasn't there. I'd ask, for his wife to reply that he was at home roasting the beans. When he WAS there, he'd be reading coffee magazines when there was downtime. The guy was COMMITTED to making coffee That dedication got me to try normal coffee, and now I'm an addict... All because of him. One day the wife and I were going to Wilmington and I HAD to have an ice java, but it being the weekend, I decided to get a sandwich since they used Boar's Head meats, which I knew of. The owner's wife asked me all kinds of questions, about meats, cheeses, condiments(mustard), which type of mustard(spicy, tangy, sweet, etc), which specific type of sweet mustard(honey, honey dijon) etc, then lightly buttered this wonderful thick, porous bread, then toasted it. 5 minutes later, I have a sandwich, and TO THIS DAY I haven't had another that was it's equal. Sure, I've had some with the same meat, or cheese, or mustard, but not with all the same high quality ingredients and most importantly, the dedication to making something greater than the sum of its parts, and THAT'S what makes them better than the rest. To this day, I tell people about the best coffee and sandwich I've ever had. It's why I'm leaving this review; because I was telling someone about it and got nostalgic and decided to look the place up, only to find out that it's still going. I can't say how it is now, but I damned sure...

They even mail their coffee when your away for vacation (whole bean or ground for your coffee maker)! Everything you can love in coffee if you make it at home, on vacation, in the office, or have them add their...
Read moreStumbled across this place on the drive down to Wilmington and was impressed! We were greeted with smiles upon entering, and the family appeared to be homeschooling their kids. I ordered a large French vanilla coffee, and the flavor was perfect. They don't skimp on their beverage sizes, and service was prompt. Everything you could ask for in a coffee house. I'll be sure to return next time I'm in town. This is a lovely family owned establishment with delicious coffee and if I lived in the area, I'd make it my...
