El Jalapeño Mexican Grill - Ladson — Restaurant in North Charleston

Manager was rude and unprofessional!!! We went there for a quick lunch with 2 children. Adults each ordered a lunch taco salad, kids each got chicken finger meals. The taco salads came out but the kids didn’t for another 5 mins or so then only one came out. We told the waitress we ordered two meals. They brought the other kids meal out a few mins later. The beef in the taco salads was clearly not drained and the salsa seems more like soup. Neither of us could eat it, we tried. We told the server we didn’t like them and one of us wanted a chicken taco salad instead and one of us would just get a burrito. Several mins later she returns with our check, no food. The check was for the kids meals, that was ok. I didn’t say anything about her not giving us the other food and was gong to pay for the kids meals and go about my day. Then the manager comes over and says he refuses to to take off both taco salads off because he didn’t think there was anything wrong with them. I told him he wasn’t going to slide my card for anything other than the amount I approved. He kept insisting he was charging me for one taco salad and wouldn’t give me back my card. He was horribly unprofessional and kept telling me he was treating me like he was because I was yelling at him, which I never did. Eventually he only charged me for the kids meals and or practically threw my card on the table. I will never return to...

The worst customer service I’ve ever received in my life. The host was unapologetic and had a bad attitude, and the manager refused to give me a refund for a mistake that could have been avoided. As like with a lot of people in the Ladson, life has turned into a 24-hour work schedule and financial instability. On my way home from classes, I decided to order tacos and using my hands free option on my Bluetooth. I ordered 12 tacos, 9 with chicken and 3 fish. She goes okay I will read the order back 9 chicken street tacos and 3 fish. She did not tell me a total. When I got to the store she handed me two bags and I paid. It was too many boxes to be 12 tacos I asked because I was worried she was handing me someone’s order. I asked for a partial refund, she called the manager, he said no. So then I said I don’t want the food at all I want a refund. She said I can’t give you a refund because it says it on the menu. It was a Togo order I placed over the phone I didn’t have access to menu and I thought street tacos were like how you order on the street (not with beans and rice).I left very upset, enough to make me sick walking to my car. My wife and I live right around the corner and were super excited when we found out we were getting a little Mexican place nearby. There were a few hitches along the way (as with any green staff). We continued to go and each time it got better and better as the crew found their groove. Very friendly staff and their Chili Verde (Carnitas pork in chili verde salsa) is always on point! Crispy, hot, fresh, yum. We always look forward to going there on the weekend. **I highly encourage anyone who had a bad experience to give it another chance. I will always try a new restaurant twice with a decent time gap. Jalepeno's on Ladson has earned my patronage.

UPDATE: Jalepeno's found their groove. My wife and I now frequent this place. We prefer it to La Hacienda and Señor Tequila (nothing against those places, they are good too). Jalepeño's staff has been thoroughly consistent, the food has been spot on! Their Chili Verde pork is the best I have found so far. Always friendly service, fast, awesome, delicious and so on! If you end up having a bad experience I highly recommend giving it another go (every restaurant has an off night). We will continue...
