The Licking — Restaurant in North Miami

First, let it be stated the food was great. However, it was not great enough to overlook the poor service. When we walked in to wait for seating no one acknowledged we had arrived. A simple “hello” or “we’ll be right with you” would have been nice. Once we were seated it took another 15 mins to be asked what we wanted to eat and drink. After ordering, our appetizers came back before our drinks which was odd considering the appetizers were deep fried. Our server/host Terani was nice and helpful during the ordering process, but seemed to be over working today. As much as I wouldn’t mind hanging out with her, she was there to serve and could’ve been more attentive.

The atmosphere was decent. Loved the pictures of all the rappers (especially Cardi B, Trina and Meek Mill) and I liked the music selection of all my favorite hip-hop/trap artist, but I wasn’t too fond of the intermittent breaks with commercials from other restaurants that played while we waited for our own food.

Also, make sure you READ THE MENU…prices are subject to change without notice. It felt like I was reading a virtual patron/ads booklet as there were full page ads for attorneys and other businesses every other page. That should definitely be reconsidered or maybe those are the ads that need to play between the songs. Let the menu just be the menu.

We spent $150 today, and was totally surprised. That ticket price was too high for the overall experience not to match. But we will take this Licking and...

Ok so, I’m giving them 3 stars because the managers were very pleasant and tried to accommodate our very large party of 16. The waitstaff is a WHOLE other issue.

First, the location is tiny for the amount of traffic they get. This is my third time visiting and they are very busy on the weekends (at least from my experience). The actual eat in area is tiny and kind of loud. You feel like you’re in the club and you can’t even engage in a half way decent conversation. Get ready to yell at whomever you’re dining with. Not the best ambiance but it was just ok.

My two year old was so unruly- screaming and crying for most of the dinner. The manager came over and gave him some juice to calm him down which was really nice of him.

The waitress wasn’t rude. She just wasn’t friendly. I think I would say that her demeanor was very apathetic. No real customer service. We were almost scared to ask for anything. She was obviously just ready to go. The staff at the to go counter has the same attitude.

The area where they fixed the drinks had a bad odor and they gave us plastic utensils instead of silverware (now that I think of it, they probably did us a favor).

The food took FOREVER to come out. The server forgot an extra order of shrimp for one of the people in our party and the food was just mediocre. I can honestly say that I’ve had better experiences on other occasions. I’ll probably return and hope...

Today was my first time visiting this restaurant chain. I waited an hour for my food at the takeout line since the dining room waiting line was literally out of the door. Besides the unorganized service that they provide, all of my meat was dry and under seasoned.. I waited 30 minutes after receiving my order for 4 overcooked, dry shrimp since they forgot it in my order. I had to get a refund because they ran out of deserts and didn’t even notify the cashier before charging us for it. There were only 3 sides available and the mystery drink was rather tart and left an after taste. The turkey wings are soooooooooo unappetizing! It’s dry and has zero seasoning on it. I barely ate half of one wing, it was THAT bland. A complete waste of money.

This place is extremely over hyped and I definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone to come with high expectations.. the only thing I really liked were the green beans, which were seasoned very well.. it seems as if the quality control of the food this restaurant provides is very poor, which should be a very big factor when running a restaurant.

For the poor outcome of the food, the prices are definitely unreasonable. Fingalicking is the perfect example of a celebrity endorsed business that thrives off of the “hype” because it definitely does not live up to their very high remarks and large following on social media.
