This place was uh....pretty bad. Right off the bat, there seemed to be no order amongst the people working there, one lady was back and forth between tables and register trying to figure out tickets, we're standing in front of the register and one of the cooks comes up, aaandd tries to also figure out what's going on with the tickets. Sure, stuff happens, but you could tell they had no idea how to operate their POS terminal. Anywho, we are finally asked to place our order, we get everything placed, it's slightly more expensive than other take out places but sure, no problem. The almost $3 for extra sauce cups was absurd though. Hate being nickel and dimed.
We sit down to wait in view of the single cooktop kitchen. The 2 cooks are only working on one order at a time, instead of batch cooking so getting to our order took quite a long time. An order shows up at the pickup counter the cook points at us and says I think this is for them, it was not. We sit and wait and finally ours is called, the cook said "I think this is the right one and the right thing you order" not confidence inspiring for sure. They handle the bags and boxes with the same gloves to cook so everything is greasy.
We take it home, the food has a weird smell to it, but we dig in. The teriyaki sauce is GROSS, the chicken itself was okay but the sauce was not tasty in the slightest, not sweet and actually kinda tart? Weird. The shrimp were NOT deveined, which is not a sign of quality but alas, they smelled kinda off, they weren't bad but definitely a bit odd. The onions were raw. They had maybe a minute on the flattop as they had some caramelization at the very edges but that was it, raw throughout. The steak however was decent. Rice was meh, tasted like the rice was cooked yesterday. Noodles were expensive, greasy, and lacked any flavor. And to top it off the portion size of the whole place was utterly disappointing.
To be honest, we were a little concerned about getting food poisoning after eating some of it, we gave up eating partway through due to the low quality of the food. 3/10 overall, not inedible, but honestly off-putting.
I do NOT recommend going here, we've heard similar experiences and some positive ones seem like fake reviews.
If you want excellent take out Hibachi, go to Hibachi Express in Longs, on Hwy 9, 3x the food, 3x the flavor, and save money...
Read moreI know this place is new, and perhaps still working out the kinks, so my intent is not to bash the new hardworking owners, but hopefully things improve over time. Overall, I will not be dining here again (at least for a while). Stepping in it has a feeling of a fast food asian chain. We were confused when we walked in as we wanted to dine in, but no one greated us, and stepped up to the counter. They took our order and said we could sit anywhere. Since we were dining in, we knew that we would be giving a tip, but they asked for my tip amount when I paid for the order before being served, or even tasting the food. It seemed like a confusing process and the staff seem flustered. When our order came, they forgot my spring role, and the older women server said we didn't order it and it wasn't on the ticket so I would have to pay for it (which is fine, but i definitely told the order taker that I wanted it, so shame on me for not checking). I agree with another post here that the Teriacki sauce wasn't right. I am not sure where they get it and hopefully don't make it themselves, but it was similar to a watered down brown meat gravy. No tang or spice at all. It tasted bland, and quite frankly made the entire meal (filet and shrimp and vegtables almost inedible). But after adjusting I found the meat and shrimp to be OK. The noodles were not like normal Yakisobo noodles should be. The atmostphere was definitely lacking any flair or welcoming feeling. I would recommend the owners really consider some things, or I feel they will not be in...
Read moreWent in for our first time and ordered (to go):steak, teriyaki and shrimp hibachi entree, chicken and steak hibachi entree, California Roll, spring rolls, and steamed dumplings. The person who took the order was extremely nice and helpful. However, she answered the phone while taking our order, and decided to erase our order, and then took the phone order first, instead of asking them to hold, and then returned to us. The cook seemed visibly upset when we asked for no onions, to the point, that the lady at the register felt the need to apologize to the cook? We got home and did not have the spring rolls or the dumplings in our order. I did not feel like driving back from Longs to get them. Also, I was asked how I wanted my steak. I said medium rare, but it was well done and very dry. So was the chicken. Tasted day old or cooked earlier that morning and then chopped and kept warm. A quarter of the California roll was destroyed because of the way it was bagged up. Eating sushi rolls with a spoon is kind of upsetting. It also tasted like and came packaged like a pre-made sushi box you buy at Kroger, which comes frozen and then thawed out. The portions were very small overall. I would avoid. Definitely...
