This restaurant is difficult to rate so we will do so at the price points for the food they offer. They have a great selection of Mexican and Spanish dishes that are reasonably priced. This is good basic cuisine - not fancy or exotic. The restaurant is decorated in primary colors and the lighting is bright, dining rooms are large with tables and chairs lined up in rows - very impersonal but perfect for families and large groups. The bar is small - 12 seats and the servers are very attentive.
The Margaritas are great (better than most) and we believe they have happy hour from 3 to 6.
Chips and salsa (one mild and one spice) are free for the first round - $5.00 if you want more. We eat here frequently and find the salsa is inconsistent - sometimes chunky and sometimes watery. When it's chunky, it's great! We ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas - they didn't ask how we wanted the steak cooked so it was moist and medium-well. Light on the shrimp (we got four). Veggies were great and the spice they use is on the salty side. It's served with lettuce, tomatoes, pico, sour cream, cheese, quac and flour tortillas. More than enough for two people.
On previous visits we have had Carne Asada (excellent and beef would be cooked to your desire), Palomillia, fish tacos, flautas rancheros and everything was good.
Next time we go, we would try the taco dinners (ground beef looked amazing) and maybe some of the...
Read moreSo, I ordered food online at La Bamba, went to pick it up and when I walked in, the food I ordered was sitting on a table with no one around. I picked it up, walked to my car and as I was walking to my car I began growing more concerned about the food being left unattended. So I decided to return and ask how long the food was left unattended. When I walked back in, I had to wait an additional 5 five minutes for someone to emerge from the back. Which, of course, got me thinking the food must've been left unattended for a long time. A female emerge and I expressed my concern. She asked if I wanted them to make another one and I said yes, because I didn't feel comfortable eating food that was left unattended. So, I went back to my car and waited. 5 minutes later, the Chef/manager/ or owner (he never told me who he was) came to my car with the original plate in hand. He began to argue with me asking "why do I think someone could've put something in the food" and "why would someone put something in the food". I explained it could happen if the food was left unattended and as to why, people do things all the time without reason. He finally agreed that it could've happened but was unwilling to make another plate. So I asked for a refund and he obliged. That situation was embarrassing and uncalled for. And very strange because the man came to my vehicle in a hostile manner as if I did...
Read moreCan't believe I've lived in the area since 2013 and I'm now checking out this yumminess.
They gave us an order of nachos with salsa as soon as we sat down and glasses of water. I ordered the 'Masa de Puerco' dinner it came with raw marinated onions with the fried pork chunks. The onions had a hint of lime. The pork chunks were big pieces and you didn't even need knife to cut the meat. It was like butter to cut with fork.
Instead of the sweet plantains I ordered the 'Tostones' (fried green plantains) The white rice was perfect. The black beans were perfectly seasoned. I asked for garlic oil to dip the 'Tostones' in. They didn't have any but they did have garlic melted butter. Yum!
My hubby had the beef tacos and steak tacos. He loved them.
They have a gazillion flavors of Margaritas. I ordered the house. It's different from all other margaritas I've had in other restaurants. It was very good.
We had a really sweet waitress and another would come by to fill up our water glasses and my husband's sprite. Another lady came out to deliver our food. Everyone was really nice.
The place is clean, nicely decorated, and there is plenty of parking.
We will definitely be visiting again. We went on a Tuesday 11:30 am and by the time we left the place was...
