La Ronda Restaurant — Restaurant in North Plainfield

I decided to have dinner here with my family who is also Ecuadorian. We were terribly disappointed with the food. The only good thing was the strawberry soda “tropical.” My husband ordered a “corviche” and he said it was not fresh it was just reheated. My mom and husband also ordered a “bandeja ecuatoriana serrana” and it had no flavor. The guatita was mostly potato’s and had no peanut butter. The “seco de chivo” was mostly bones. I ordered the fritada and the meat was dry the mote and tortillas de papas were fine nothing exceptional. Nothing seemed fresh, nothing was hot just barely warm, except for the French fries that I ordered for my kids. I ordered a passion fruit juice and it was mostly water. My mom also ordered a Morocho and again it was ok nothing great. My mother who is from Ecuador cooks better and more flavorful. What a disappointing visit especially since we came from Brooklyn and went in expecting...

Ordered encebollados today and they were clearly over priced. In North Jersey, they go for 10-12 dollars. Here, 17 dollars and there was nothing different in soups. The lady over the phone told me it comes with a side of rice or tostado so I thought maybe that’s why it was more expensive. When I got home to see the food, they had put the “side” of rice in a legit plastic ramekin to go. This is honestly an insult. These ramekins are usually for some type of salsa or sauce to put in to go and they decide to be cheap and put rice in there instead. Just wow. The tostado is not even equivalent to a side, usually Ecuadorian restaurants give you that as something to pick on while you wait for your food. I know there aren’t that many options for encebollados but that’s not a reason to hike the price and give us two spoon portions of rice. Save your money and...

The service was horrible. The drinks that came out were the wrong ones. One appetizer out of two came out 30 minutes later and it was cold. They made us wait 1 hour and 10 minutes before we asked for the status of the food. The waitress pretty much said that the catering they were preparing took presidency. It seemed like they were not professional in the food business. They had an order of 15+ trays coming out for a party but yet they didn't attend and serve the patrons that were present with children.
