Curry Walla isn't too far from my home. I really enjoy the fact that they offer so much on their menu. I ordered through our beloved site, Yelp. We tired the onion bhaji, pappadom, rasam soup, naan bread basket, butter chicken, rogan josh and for dessert the gulab jamun. Let me tell you, there was PLENTY, like we each had our fill and had enough for two more days. We opted to try a few new dishes that we had never had before, one savory (butter chicken) and one extra spicy (rogan josh). The butter chicken was delicious, not too sweet and just savory enough. The naan was a huge amount and very well seasoned. My favorite was the onion bhaju.
I found both the rasam soup, and rogan josh to not be spicy at all, maybe a hint of heat but nothing like I thoroughly enjoy. Each item on yelp/grubhub gives you the option to choose the level of spiciness, so there should have been no mistake.
Another thing that really bothered me was they have three different sets of prices, grubhub and their pamphlet. I grabbed a pamphlet on the way out the door while grabbing my takeout order. The difference between their pamphlet and yelp was $10, only one item was the correct price. When I inquired about it via yelp message they responded promptly that I could order over the phone and get the pamphlet price. Maybe it's a reward for making the effort in trying to pronounce everything correctly. I did let them know that they should correct the prices on their website and on Yelp.
Will I try them again, yes. I will certainly call over the phone or order in person. It's just frustrating as a customer to...
Read moreReview updated 11/18/2023 We've been ordering from here for over a year with no issues. The past 2 times we've ordered though, the food is delayed up to an hour after the estimated time given. The last order was the worst. We arrived 5 minutes after the eta on the order and were told it would be another 20-30 minutes, and we should leave and come back. We called 20 minutes later. It took several calls as we were either hung up on, or the call was disconnected. When we were finally able to connect with someone, we were told it would be another 15 minutes. Called 20 minutes after that and were told it would be another 15 minutes. At this time, I tried to cancel our order and they refused to cancel the order. They promised to expedite the order. We placed our order at 6:50pm, and it was not ready until 8:30pm.
There are better Indian restaurants in Providence. Curry Walla is convenient, but if it takes over an hour to get the food, you can drive to the better restaurants on the east side and get your food quicker.
Original review: Good Indian food and quick service. Ordered online for pickup, food was ready in around 30 minutes. Chicken tikka masala, sag paneer, and...
Read moreI waited an hour and a half for my food then was told that I ordered from an unreliable source, when all I used was their linked website. I ended up receiving my food almost a half hour after closing. I also felt it was irresponsible of the workers to leave me in the restaurant after close to chat outside as the cooks continued to ring the bell signaling whoever’s order was ready (still not mine lol). There was also a dispute with another lady who received her food after waiting ~45 minutes, three people were trying to figure out if she paid thru apps behind the counter instead of considering the literal email receipt and bank statement she was showing in front of them. Either they were understaffed or the server/teller was inexperienced. The food is good but not really worth the hassle. If you do choose to go, try opting for a time they’re dead. And call ahead if you order online or else you’ll be responsible for them not receiving your...
