New Peking — Restaurant in North Providence

I’ve been ordering from here for a while. The food is ok, cheap prices. Today I ordered sweet and sour fried shrimp along with a couple other items. When I got home I notice there’s no sweet and sour sauce. I call them and tell them that and they say to go get the sauce. Now I live in scituate which if you know where scituate is it is nowhere near north providence, about 25 minutes away, I already went out of my way to get the food. I tell them that if I go back to the sauce then the rest of my order is going to be cold. Which they then YELL at me saying “you want the sauce come get the sauce too much talking” .. i ordered SWEET AND SOUR shrimp I obviously know I can go get the sauce, I was supposed to get it in the first place. They didn’t offer any other option but to go and get it which would mean I would have to drive 25 minutes there and 25 minutes back for a sauce and then everything else I ordered would be garbage and idk about you but I can’t eat plain fried jumbo dry shrimp so that was a complete waste of money. They could have offered to deliver it or offer a coupon for next time for the shrimp. After they yelled at me I told them I won’t be ordering from them anymore in which they just hung up the phone. We went in to eat after a joyful day of shopping. The tables were unclean, with grit and fixable food on the tables. I tried to make the best of a bad situation. I asked the person behind the counter for a damp cloth so I could wipe down the table we picked to sit at. It was cleaner than the others. She angrily barked one minute ,I know, I know forks and table clothes. I thought how rude, but I sat and waited. 10minutes later she came out to the table next to us and cleaned it. I approached the counter again and asked for a cloth the clean the table. She turned and barked you want it to go! And a customer was nice enough to explain, he want a cloth to clean the table ! The server turn and walked away! At that point I wanted to leave , but didn't want to ruin the day for my wife and granddaughter. Listen save your money, the poor customer service will ruin your appetite. Horrible service the food is good but your have to think twice about the unclean tables and dirty...

I've been getting food from these people since they were in the old Shaw's plaza in Providence. Food is consistently good and at a great price. If you get something like fried chicken or spare ribs it's not going to be the best. Get an actual Chinese food dish like dumplings or some beef Szechuan, sweat and sour shrimp, egg foo young, etc. Beef teriyaki will be old school hanger cut style. You might not like it if you're used to people who slice a filet these days. If you try to order the Americanized junk it's not as good, skip the chicken wings. Go pick it up. Grubhub messed up my orders before and I've eaten there like once since the 1990s. If you eat an expected to be like getting takeout but just eating it there. It's old school diy.
