What Italian grinder doesn't come with Provolone? This is a review of a ~$50 order for 3 (tasteless) sandwiches: it's both a GrubHub & Pauly Penta's issue. I've been here once before & the turkey sandwich was good, albeit this was over 3 years ago. However, today with GrubHub - horrendous. On GrubHub - no option in app to select a cheese on sandwiches so I added the request for cheese & the type of cheese in "additional instructions" (which was correct in the order, I got the cheese) however - in those same instructions I asked for the Italian grinders to be DRY with whatever dressing they use to be on the side - especially since I knew how big the large size would be & I wanted to save them without them getting soggy. But there were no sides of oil/vinegar or dressing in the bag. The bread had balsamic vinegar on it which would be fine normally if I ordered it to be wet. Not sure if that's because Pauly normally doesn't use oil or dressing but when you say you want an Italian DRY - it means dry - no liquids at ALL. Next - I asked for extra iceberg lettuce on all of the sandwiches (I ordered a turkey sandwich, which I'd eaten there before, & 2 Italians which I'd not had from Pauly before). There was NO extra lettuce. Not at all. The lettuce was minimal & was cut to the size of sliced basil (thin strips). On the Italians, the meats & cheeses were stuck together & placed in 2 or 3 short clumps on the bread - pre-rolled. It looked like these were meant for smaller sized bread or just a lack of understanding on how to make a grinder. I unraveled the stuck together ball of meats and cheese, separated them & then spread out onto the bread like a real Italian grinder would be made (or I tried to do given the chinsey cuts of meat). I basically remade the entire sandwich so that meats, cheeses were evenly distributed. The delivery came 20 mins early (not good when on a schedule - early not always good and it's also the 2nd time this has happened with GrubHub, not on Pauly of course.) And came with spills because the balsamic vinegar had leaked out of the two sandwiches so the bottom of bag was soiled (would not have been an issue if the note I made in the GrubHub order to make them DRY was followed). On that note, the bag should have been packaged so that the sandwiches were put in horizontally & not vertically. The sandwiches were in the bag standing straight up & leaking from the bottom. (I have never seen this approach with grinders/subs). Bag them so that the sandwiches are laying flat in the bag & won't leak (even though they should have been DRY Iike I'd specifically asked for). And lastly, the GrubHub driver should've looked at the order & looked in the bag to see that there were no dressings on side & he should've asked Pauly Penta's about why no sides of dressing. To either put the dressings in, or to ask them for explanation if there was a reason there were no sides of dressing available. So, so bad. Just really terrible when for TASTELESS three sandwiches that I spent almost $50 on. Not...
Read moreI eat here at least once a week but after my visit today I won’t be back. I placed a to go order over the phone, when I went in to get my order there was about 4 people in front of me ordering sandwiches so I’m waiting my turn to be waited on. A new customer just walks in and goes to the soups, I don’t know her name I looked for a name tag but didn’t see one, the young blonde that was working today 3/30 at 230 goes right over to her and gets her her soup and cashes her out, meanwhile ive been standing there waiting for about 10 minutes. As she’s being cashed out I go over to the register and stand in line so she can cash me out next as I just need someone to grab my food. When the customer in front of me leaves she turns and walks away knowing fully aware that I’m there. Another customer even noticed she did this. She knew she did it. Im just baffled at this point. Imagine being in line at cvs and when it’s your turn the cashier gives you the side eye and walks away as if you’re not there. And not even walks away to go wait on another customer walks away and just stands in front of the deli. Aside from that If it’s busy you wait on who was there first. I was there waiting for ten minutes and a customer who just walked in got waited on before me. Just totally ignorant all the way around. I will never spend my...
Read moreAbsolutely worst catering experience I’ve had. 1st I get there, they can’t find my order.. I get home, everything is shoved in 1 box. There catering menu did not note the stuffed breast were raw. So the raw stuffed breast are stacked on cooked chicken parm, lemon chicken, and pasta. So all the raw chicken juice drips on all the other pans. The bruschetta is stacked on top of each other in small round pans, so you have to transfer at home to bake, the lemon chicken is stacked over the top the container, to where all the juice is spilled in the box because it should have been in a pan twice the size. What was supposed to be over $200 for a convenient Christmas Eve dinner for six people has resulted in needing to clean my fridge and countertops and dirty pans anyways because everything was in pans too small to properly reheat. I always go to Roma on federal hill. I love their catering., my husband convinced me to try Pauly’s. Needless to say I will...
