Gelsosomo's Pizzeria Griffith — Restaurant in North Township

Update: I am happy that i did receive a phone call from the manager, with a sincere apology. I really appreciate them reaching out and taking ownership of the situation…we will give them another chance and i am hopeful it will be better!

Friday night pizza is a weekly tradition! We decided to give the newest pizza in Griffith a try….we have had it in crown point before and loved it. Place the order online…it gave a very vague time frame of when it would be ready so we gave ample time and went to pick it up. Brought it home and discovered that one of the pizzas had the wrong toppings on it. Definitely disappointing, but mistakes happen. Contacted them via email (I wasn’t going to call on a Friday night during a busy dinner rush, it wasn’t an emergency). I got no response so several days later I messaged on fb…I did get a response asking for my phone number so they could contact me….well…that was nearly 3 weeks ago and I have heard nothing back. The pizza itself is delicious, but the customer service needs some work. Griffith has countless pizza options, and I’m not sure we will choose gelsosomos in the future…at least not this location. Our first time experience from here was just eh. Ordered from their online menu, I called and ordered delivery. Two large pizzas, no problem. Beef sandwich with fries fine. I went to order jalapeno poppers and was told they don't have those, ok no biggie, I said we'll take an order of bacon Mac and cheese bites, nope they don't have those either, Oooook, fried zucchini, nope sorry our online menu was not accurate so they didn't have quite a few items. I said how bout fried mushrooms, and fried pickle chips, yes both of those were available so we ordered those. Wait time hour and 15 minutes no biggie on a Wednesday. But we waited over an hour and a half. The pizza was okay, the beef sandwich was good, The fried mushrooms and fried pickles were cold, the breading on the mushrooms was super dry and falling off as soon as you picked one up. We will probably not order those two items again. I would however like to try dine in, since delivery is usually a different type...

I was SO VERY EXCITED to try this place! I ordered $50 worth of food and picked 3 sides and a large pizza so I could get a feel for the food. The young woman on the phone said it would be delivered in 25-30 minutes (I live less than a mile away.) An hour later I got my food, which - I wouldn’t have minded however, everything was cold. The mushrooms soggy of course, as any fried food would be an hour after frying. The most disappointing, the tomato bread. I raved and raved about the tomato bread to my teenager as I always got from the Portage establishment and my son took one look, laughed and walked away! Because I paid for it (and tipped my driver) I tried it. It was terrible. It was dry, lacked flavor (!), and was cold. I peeled the cheese off and two tomatoes and put it on my pizza so as not to waste. I’m very disappointed. I hope in the future I am able to edit this review because this was a TERRIBLE first impression, especially for someone so looking forward...
