I love Schoop's hamburgers and have been eating them for years. Unfortunately, at this location I was deeply shocked, heavily bothered, and sorely disappointed at the uncleanliness I witnessed as my food was being prepared. A worker in the back was picking up buns with his bare hands and placing them on the bare counter...TWO major violations! I watched as my bun was being slid across the bare counter to be prepared my another person that had on a glove. By that time, my buns had been exposed to so much germs! I am outdone!!!! I know Munster is a close knit community with friendly people, but that does not excuse a public place from practicing full cleanliness. The person who picked up and handled my buns in the back has germs full. There is no telling where his hands have been or what has been touched in the process including hair, scratching, coughing, digging, sneezing, etc. When I brought this to a worker's attention that took my order, she stated "they constantly wash their hands." NOT OK! I will not be back to this location and will continue eating at the one in...
Read moreSitting in schoops I expected James Dean to saunter in at any moment, drop a coin into the jukebox and sit next to Fonzie while Norman Rockwell sketched them from a nearby booth. The decor is a very tasteful and authentic feeling vintage theme. More importantly, the burger was perfect. Smashed patty with crisp lacy edges and a juicy, but thoroughly cooked center. The buns are sturdy enough to handle the burgers, but don't overwhelm the beef like some heavier-duty buns might. The fries are absolutely middle of the road, medium thickness, crispness and they're not dolled up with anything besides salt; they're the sideshow. My server was attentive and friendly. The food was prepared quickly and served immediately. The seating was spaced out for distancing purposes. I'll be returning as soon as I pass through Munster again. I recommend ordering a...
Read moreI've always enjoyed their burgers, fries and shakes, just not the price. For my family of four it would cost over $50 adding an extra or two like chilli, for example, so I end up just ordering for me. 😆 As selfish as that sounds, my wife doesn't order from there because of the price and my children prefer Steak & Shake so it works out. This visit, a double cheeseburger, fry, milkshake and a cheese fry for my daughter cost $20.40, with tax. I believe a gourmet burger w/fries at Burger Haus would cost around the same for comparison. I'm not trying to push anyone away from Schoops. I am only offering my opinion which may not be as informed as the owner's who run the business and can explain better, the cost of offering a fresh product and it does taste fresh. Despite that, it is still one of...
