Chido Burrito — Restaurant in Northfield

It was busy. I get that. But I never had such bad service anywhere. The staff was unprofessional and rude. I do not like leaving bad reviews. But 4 weeks after experiencing my visit and it still bothers me. It was a weekend night. They were very busy. This was my first time there. My daughter suggested we eat there. But there were no tables available so we decided to still get food and bring it home to eat. The line was about 8 to 10 people deep. It took roughly 20 minutes in line to begin the order process. That's when I noticed that most of the staff was more concerned with their phones then be bothered with customers. The cashier seemed to be more interested with horseplay with the cook then ringing people up. At this point I'm getting frustrated. So I think to myself I'm just going to soldier through this. I order chicken tacos. The girl takes the tortillas and puts chicken in it. She slides it to the girl next to her and now I'm expecting her to finally look up from her phone to ask me what do I want on it. Nope. She with one hand shuts the lid of the to go box and slides it down to the cashier and never even skips a beat on the phone. When I ask the cashier is that just how it comes? They dont ask you to put anything on it? The cashier then says to the girl who is supposed to be doing her job "I guess he has a problem" and the girl looks at me and then looks at the other girl and starts making dumb silly faces at each other as if mocking me. I said are you even serious right now?? Then they start laughing at each other. At this point my daughter is trying to calm me down because she knows I'm about to lose it. I originally came there for her. So I calmed down the best I could muster. That's when another staff member came over and physically pushed the girl who was mocking me out of the way and she stepped up and added the toppings. All while the original girl went to the cashier to whisper to each other and laugh in hysterics looking over in the direction of my daughter and myself. I should have left. I should have freaked out. I should have talked with some sort of manager. But I was afraid that either one of these kids is the manager or whoever is was so incompetent that they would allow the staff to act this way maybe they would just stand there and make faces and mock me also. 4 weeks later and this...

Short version: Lackluster food and bad service. Keep driving / plan to go somewhere else. Long version: I came here with my girlfriend because she had been here once before and said it was good. We were starving, so I figured even if it wasn't good, my hunger wouldn't care. We walked in and saw they had Berria tacos, so my girlfriend asked if they had the soup that came with it to dip the tacos in, and the woman working the food told her yes. I ordered a tinga chicken rice bowl, n she ordered the birria tacos. The chicken in my bowl was as tough as leather, and the salsas are easily store bought, with next to no flavor. We waited for them to make the birra tacos, and after paying, the woman hands us the tacos without the soup. We ask her about it, and she tells us they don't have any !!!!!!????? It was literally the first and only question we had. So she lied or didn't have the decency to turn around and ask someone else about something she was not sure about. Instead, she had us pay, wait for the food, and then tell us they didn't have the other half of the dish...The customer service was quite lacking, and employees had very indifferent and unprofessional attitudes. I’ve been going to Chido since it opened, I wanna say it was maybe 2009, maybe 2010, I dont remember exactly when but it’s been forever. I want to first say that I love their food. I’ve probably made other reviews about how I believe they have the best carnitas anywhere, and I stand by that. It’s always an enjoyable experience. I do think they have to work in a couple things and I’m only mentioning them because they happen over and over again. They do everything else right but they A. Can’t seem to ever get drive thru orders right. No big deal we just stopped doing that but sometimes it’s nice when you have kids. But B. Needs to be addressed I think. The churros are NEVER fully cooked. They used to be but for some reason for as far back as I can remember now, I make the mistake of thinking “this will be the day the churros are cooked” and I get one only to throw most of it out. So basically order everything on the menu , it’s all great , except the churros. Also put more care into making sure drive thru orders are correct or just don’t offer the service and stick to what you are...
