Wonder Bread Thrift — Restaurant in Northwood

Stopped in on our way to Cedar point with high hopes after losing our local Hostess store a couple years ago. Supremely disappointing. No items are hostess brand or even name brand, they're all knockoff and taste like oversweet wet plastic. The items are all close to, or past their expiration dates (not only the discounted items) and I got a moldy honeybun in the batch I grabbed for the kids. The employees seemed to literally be hiding from customers in the back room because they would pop out and then run back and disappear for another 5ish minutes (this happened a couple times in the 15 or so minutes we were in the store), by the time anyone came to cash out customers, there was a line of 5-7 people. The store is supremely underwhelming and while, sure you get a lot of sugary treats for a low price....you're also apparently gambling with your health and whatever is in the knockoff treats being that they are selling outdated products that are moldy. Just save your cash and go to the local big box store. I wish I could get my 8.....yes 8$ back. Thats how grossed out we were by the whole experience. I actually apologized to my family for taking them there.

The kicker? They have the audacity to sell hostess brand "swag" but not carry a SINGLE...

For the past 3 years, I have been stopping here on my way to Lansing. I made this trip at least once a month when I would come see my girlfriend. I would start in Cleveland, stop at the halfway point (which is the wonder bread store), and spend $20 on tastykake snacks and bread. This has been a tradition ever since, and still is. Except, now I live with my girlfriend in Lansing and stop here when I drive back to Cleveland.

This place truly is that awesome. Staff is always nice and store is always clean. If you think you can find better prices, you are wrong. There is never a wait and always parking available. I can't say enough great things about this place.

I genuinely get excited to drive back home because I know I'll get to stop at the Wonder...

I have been here before in the past and have had a good experience. But this time wasn't like my past visits. The cashier was friendly as always. The register is computized and wasn't working. The cashier tried everything I waited almost 10 tens minutes for the problem to be corrected. She tried several different things to get the register to work, but it still didn't work. I didn't have cash for my purchase so I couldn't complete my purchase. And left with nothing. Maybe my next visit...
