A true Asian gem right in Norwalk that you would normally only find in flushing Queens or while traveling in Asia. We scored a table nice and early on a chilly Sunday afternoon and didn't really know what to expect. My Wife & I have been fortunate enough to have traveled to China & Japan eating our way as we navigated into the Hokkaido district of Japan to snowboard. We ordered quite a few dishes for starters we tried the Dan Dan noodles, while not the typical super spicy burn your taste buds off these noodles were so delicious & flavorful apparently these noodles are made w sesame seeds as the owners are considerate of those w peanut allergies they were scrumptious. We also had the spring rolls with chili dipping sauce they were super tasty and perfectly cooked. The pork dumplings with szechuan chili sauce were not super spicy they were delicious, fresh and tasty. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen which really brought me back to the Ramen I've eaten so much of while on various trips to snowboard in the northern region of Japan it was soooo good. My Wife had the braised beef fan. It was basically beef in a perfectly made, brown gravy with potatoes, rice and vegetables. We couldn't finish it so we took some home just like every thing else it was delicious. We absolutely had to try the fried buns for desert and we were glad we did it was so good, the little buns were Puffy, hot and soft to bite into with the perfect dipping sauce that wasn't too sweet. They were like little tasty hot edible pillows made with love. Do yourself a favor and go try this place out the owners were so sweet to us they were attentive, polite and you could really tell they cared about the customer we talked about food, whisky, and travel. We know they'll be days where it's gonna be hard to get a table because everything is so amazing and more importantly the owners truly rock and really...
Read moreHad what the menu called the "Good Hope Ramen" (the one with the stewed beef) and the Pork and Chive Dumplings. From the pictures online I saw of the ramen, and the menu description, I had an inkling that this was really a Chinese beef noodle soup, and I was not mistaken. And it was an excellent version, full of flavor, including the requisite star anise and Szechuan peppercorn. The owners are from Chengdu in the Szechuan province, so the flavors are authentic. This is the best beef noodle soup in CT. The dumplings were also excellent. The wrappers were clearly homemade with good toothsome-ness. The pork and chive filling is classic, and well done here: juicy, flavorful, with no extraneous ingredients to try and make it more "hip." The accompanying dipping sauce is a bit on the sweet side, whereas I prefer one with a bit more vinegary tang, but that's a preference thing. Dining room is small and cozy: 4 Two-tops along a bench and wall, and 2 four-tops. Place was 80% full for lunch on a rainy Wednesday, and was also doing a brisk take out business. Although this place has the word "ramen" in its name and offers some Japanese-style ramen, it seems to be more of a Chinese style restaurant, focused in small eats and comfort food....
Read moreIf I were to morph into some sort of food- it would be a Dumpling or ramen noodles. That’s how much I love dumplings and noodles. So I’ve been wanting to try this place since it popped up on my yelp as “new” and tonight we didn’t! Whah a wonderful dinner with the fam! I love how cute this place is, walking in it reminded me of home. The tasty smell reminded me of my mom’s house. Pat greeted us, he was super nice and service was outstanding. We ordered the chicken pho, beef pho chicken ramen, Dan Dan noodles, roasted pork bun and pork and chive dumplings. All of it was delicious! My son is a very picky eater and loved the ramen. My daughter was upset we didn’t order more roasted pork buns for home! And the pho broth was perfection. The only problem was I had to share it with my husband. What a great find! We will def be back for more!! Thanks for...
