Galicia Deli — Restaurant in Norwalk

I went there this past week and I can see what people mean about the lady (owner?) being rude 😅. I got there to pick up and the lady was cleaning/fixing a juice machine, and never addressed me or said ‘we’ll be right with you’ or anything. The other lady working there was way in the back and had to stop what she was doing to help me, only to have to ask the rude lady to charge me. Rude lady just grabbed my credit card, charged me, and didn’t say a word, not thank you, come again, have a nice day, nothing. I ordered two chicken picaditas.

This restaurant makes the same mistake as many others, making picaditas or sopes very crunchy. There are many ways of cooking both types — picaditas, which tend to be round & sopes, typically more oval shape — but none are supposed to be crunchy at all. In Norwalk, Taqueria El Chino has by far the best sopes, and Tacodillas truck has the best huaraches, which is basically a giant sope. None are crunchy, all soft and hand-made. Galicia Deli also used mozzarella cheese (🤨) instead of the typical cotija cheese, fresco cheese or Oaxaca cheese. The green sauce they used actually has good flavor.

I feel for the other lady working there, she was really nice and helpful when I placed the order and was attentive enough when she saw me waiting with no response from rude lady.

Horrible experience. Terrible food and even worse hospitality! Are they crazy? You walk in and they straight up ignore you, with no one else in there. The lady that works at the registers doesn’t understand Spanish or English! I asked what some of the items were and she and the cooking lady seemed bothered that I had questions. I asked because maybe I wanted to order them! I finally ordered a tamal because that’s a safe bet, right? She didn’t ask if I wanted my food to stay or to go, I wanted to eat there. She wrapped everything to go, that’s fine but then she gave me no napkins, no fork, no knife. She went in the back and I stood there waiting for her. She saw me, ignored me, then finally decided to come out again and didn’t like it when I asked for freaking eating utensils. The tamal was too salty, it tasted rancid. Que experiencia tan desagradable con la trabajadora , una mujer arrogante, agresiva, intolerante. Desde que llamé por teléfono hacer mi orden y pedí torta de bistec, ella quería darme carne empanizada y le dije que no. Cuando fui a recoger mi orden, ella con otra señora (trabajadora o dueña) estaban sentadas en el área donde comen los clientes y cuando vieron que yo entré porque yo era la única cliente , “el lugar estaba vacío completamente” a ella no le gusto pararse y atenderme y lo digo porque de muy mala manera me preguntó que quería, y pedí mi orden que hice por teléfono , me cobró $17.18 por una torta. Lo pagué sin ningún problema, entonces le digo que si eso no viene con salsa y me pregunta cuántos quiero pero con muy mala actitud, le pido 2 y entonces ella procede a cobrar las 2 salsas y le digo que no, pensé que eso venía incluido con mi orden, de muy mala manera me dice uno gratis y el otro se cobra. Le dije que solo me diera 1, y que por favor se apure en entregarme mi tarjeta de crédito porque se estaba tomando mucho tiempo con mi tarjeta. Y ella se puso súper agresiva gritando como loca. La verdad me sorprendió mucho su actitud y la otra señora me pregunta que pasa, entonces empiezo a explicarle pero simplemente la otra mujer estaba descontrolada , histérica y no dejaba a la otra señora conversar conmigo. Lo peor de todo es que cuando llego a mi destino y procedo a consumir la torta me doy cuenta que solo pusieron 6 pedacitos de carne, pero esas que preparan para los tacos, no tenía queso, ni aguacate, un montón de frijol, 2 slices de tomate, 1 slice de jalapeño y casi nada de lechuga, en otras palabras me entregaron una porquería de comida.
