on 01/29/2025 I stopped into Brother buffet while I was conducting business in the area, I just wanted quick and forget about it Chinese buffet food to stop the tummy rumble... instead what I received was the most mediocre food I have had from any buffet. It wasn't terrible, it just was Meh... This is not the type of experience you want your customers having, a bad memory about your food.
Normally I am a 2 trip eater, one plate was enough, not because it was filling but because the food lacked any real flavor. The General Tso's chicken was blah, I had had better from frozen store offerings like P.F. Chang. The Fried Rice just seemed like white rice with yellow dye. The boneless spare ribs were so tough I doubt Mike Tyson could beat them up. The Chicken on a stick was dry and why is every chicken option on the buffet RED... I mean, did you guys get a discount on Red Dye #5??? Even the wonton soup lacked any enthusiasm. I mean how do you screw up Wonton Soup.
The service??? the staff was friendly and efficient. Drink refills kept coming, even before my cup was half empty, they even inquired if I needed help since I walk with a severe limp due to a life altering injury, I said no but thank you.
the atmosphere... its nothing spectacular, it is clean and serviceable but it really doesn't have any character... I kind of laughed to myself as I said it looked like the first Wal-mart Chinese buffet (everything was blue and white) or maybe after K-Marts bankruptcy the owners got a deal on the term Blue Light Special.
Again, this is not horrible but you won't say "we gotta come back" when you get done and leave. I am willing to bet you would rather hit up Mickey D's across the street than spend money here.
Pricing??? $20 for one person with 1 drink is a bit much considering the food is bland, uninspiring and just has ZERO memorable taste and appearance. Many of the offerings were low or look like they sat way past their shelf life. Pottsville is not really an area that a Chinese buffet has to go all out as a majority of the people there were attacking the standard American options such as Fried Chicken, French Fries etc.
One piece of advice to the owners, find a new chef who knows how to cook General Tso Chicken, and also one that knows how to prepare proper lo mein and fried rice. Whoever is your lead cook is horrible and should be given the bus boy job. Really for your prices you're not going to get by on great service alone, you need to give people a reason to come back, and with the current food being offered, it is more of a "Been there, Done that, Don't wanna do it again." type of place.
But Kudo's to your awesome staff to bad the food couldn't rise to the same level...

I've had raw chicken on more than one occasion... the last waitress we had acted like a 12 year old school girl in heat with multiple men that were sitting in the restaurant .. I was in there with my fiance and 1 year old son when this newer? Kid-like waitress kept walking by and staring and smiling.. then she was doing it to another man a couple tables behind us.. I didnt appreciate that at all . . That's NOT the kind of waitress I want. That landed her a ZERO dollar tip.. it was disgusting and overly annoying .. we didnt even want to eat and as a matter of fact,. My fiancee did NOT eat.. I got one plate of subpar barely warm food and we each had a soda.. the bill was 17.00! I would hardly say this place is reasonable with their prices!! I've also witnessed staff on MORE THAN ONE OCCASION USE THE BATHROOM AND NOT WASH THEIR HANDS! THIS IS A FACT! So until someone gets all these issues addressed and that waitress no longer works there, ... we definitely won't be back.. this is a restaurant we frequented for quite a few years now due to convenience.. and now it's come to an end.. most of our friends and extended family won't be returning either.. Time to get back with the program and someone needs to look in on the kitchen and front staff using the bathroom and not washing their hands at all! Makes me wonder what else is going on in the...

I spoke with the owner Tung and we agreed to meet at the restaurant today to discuss this matter and maybe get a face-to-face apology and even more importantly, the owner would educate the employees on how to deal with anyone with a disability rather than ask them to leave. I drove 30 minutes one way to meet with the owner and the same employee that was so rude To my wife and myself with a gift certificate for 1 free lunch we were told that she had things to do she couldn’t make it. That tells me right there that this issue is not very important to her or her business at all not a phone call or text saying that she could not make it. That would’ve been acceptable but nothing, I am not the type of person to complain about anything at all. I usually let things just go, but this is very serious,.
