Golden China Express — Restaurant in Norwich Township

Living out in Grove City has really made me miss this place. The staff is always friendly to me and I've never had an issues there. The food has always been fantastic specifically their general tso's and sesame chicken are complete standouts, but I've also enjoyed the shrimp and chicken, fried rice, lo mein, and pad tai. I've been to Chinese restaurants all over Columbus. Only one other place has comparable chicken. It's what you always hope to find. Usually at Chinese shops the chicken is soggy. This place is always crisp and fresh. And the real icing on the cake to this place.... Lunch combo (many main entree options) with a choice of white or fried rice (get the white rice, trust me (fried rice they use for combos is just some pre-made rice not nearly as good as their fried rice entree)) with the choice of a drink or a soup.... For the price of ~$5.25!!!! What!?! And even the dinner combos are decently priced.

I really do miss this place. The only way I get close to this kind of Chinese food is by paying an arm and a leg.

Overall... This place is unbeatable. See my reviews, I've been to many Chinese restaurants. The only other comparable place it more of a dine in place with the price to match.... If you're in Hilliard, just go here.

Update: in 2024 lunch prices at $5.95 are quite literally outstanding.

Has only aged like...

Amongst a generally unimpressive set of choices of Chinese in Hilliard, Golden China Express has been the best choice for me in the last couple of years. Unfortunately, tonight will likely be my last visit. Ordered General Tso’s chicken along with an egg roll and soup. The soup and egg roll were good, as usual. However the General Tso’s chicken was terrible. The chicken pieces were over-breaded and very chewy. The sauce was extremely sticky and thick and was lukewarm overall. It was not edible as it was and I ended up throwing it out. There is no way it was made to my order having picked it up in less than 10 mins from the time I ordered it. It definitely seemed the dish was made earlier for someone else and set back. Disappointing that I’m now back to trying to find an adequate Chinese restaurant...

I have ordered from this restaurant since I started working in this area. The food is always prepared as ordered and delicious. You can taste it is fresh, to order, and the service (delivery) is prompt. They make homemade hot mustard and always include it in your order upon request, this does require a call after placing your order if you use the app. I do not like the new ordering app. It does not detail the menu items, which I think people enjoy reading. I do. It allows you to read the contents and to select possibly new items. It is (also) constantly is inadequate. Lastly, there is that loss of human interaction. Which is what I had this evening, discussing hot mustard making your nose runny and opening up your sinuses! Lmao 😜...
