My client enjoyed himself quite a bit, he spent about an hour looking through everything, and listening to the pre-recorded audio tour available in each room. It's much bigger than I anticipated, they have quite an impressively large collection, with rooms broken up by era. Overall, we quite enjoyed ourselves, and I think it was well worth the $10 admission.
Accessibility info: The building is in Old Hilliard, and easy to get to with easily accessible parking. The main entrance and all rooms seem to be wheelchair accessible, with ramps in all doorways with elevation differences. There are one or two spots where the aisle between displays gets a bit narrow, and may make maneuvering a chair difficult, particularly in the broadcasting equipment area. This room is also more of a garage/warehouse in order to display the broadcasting truck, and as such is less temperature controlled than the rest of the house. This didn't bother us, but if you're sensitive to temperatures, it was a bit chilly in the winter- not sure how warm it might be in the summer. They have a restroom available for visitors, but keep in mind there is no seating available in any of the rooms if you're going to...
Read moreThis museum offers a really interesting collection of TVs and related equipment, some still functional, dating from the late 1930s through the early 1960s. It is worth a visit for both kids and adults. Unfortunately, during a visit today, a surly guy working (volunteering?) there aggressively yelled at us for breaking a rule of which we were not aware. He had not greet us when we came in, nor did he seem interested in being helpful in any way, although he did ask if I had made the suggested donation. For a second, I thought of asking for it back. I just hope he isn't there all the time and others will have a...
Read moreIf you ever had an uncle who toyed with tv's in their basement, then this place will feel like home. In a non-distinct building, you will find room after room of antique and vintage televisions, organized into period, from the first mechanical models to space-aged deco works of art. Then when you think you've seen it all, there is a garage load of production equipment from cameras to a fully-fitted news van and an enormous transmitter. Highly recommended for those in the industry, tinkerers and...
