Great Location, parking, ok. Their âsign inâ system is kind of genius. No host, no employees around the âlobbyâ area, theyâll just call you when they have an open seat. The people are nice and friendly. Overall, location and atmosphere, GREAT. Now, letâs talk about the food. Reading the menu, everything sounds appetizing. We (2) ordered the guacamole and a drink. Guacâ fantastic. Iâve never had restaurant guac that fresh. They had chips and salsa that you fill up yourself, that was pretty cute. For our main dishes, we got 3 tacos each. I got the Corizo, Tempura and Avacado BLT. My friend got the Baja, Avacado BLT and the Cantina shrimp. Overall, my tacos were mediocre at best. A little rough? Kinda. However, thatâs only because, well, I know tacos! The âchorizoâwas my favorite one, it was the most âauthenticâ one, however, Iâm not really sure what meat was on top. It just didnât taste like the spicy, layered meat that corizo is. It was missing flavor. The Avacado BLT, just as flavorless. The presentation of the taco, kinda... monochromatic. The shredded lettuce was pale, the dressing on top was weird and white and the avacado was... there. I donât even want to talk about the Tempura, it just wasnât good. Overall, for a bill that was almost $40, really not the best tacos around. Stop by a taco truck and get 5x the food there! AND FLAVOR. But I understand that itâs Americanized food, hell, the margarita was in a mason jar. But it just wasnât an...
Read moreA lovely mid-week lunch! The space is an open/outdoor concept which means you can decide whether to be in the sun or in some shade. Even though it was hot outside, the actual seating space inside was cool enough. Overall, the decor, music, and floorplan had a really fun atmosphere. It is for this atmosphere and impeccable service that I've rated them so highly as the food was a little more interesting. Given how many chips are eaten in a single sitting, I was pleasantly surprised to see the chips and salsa were self-serve. However, I would consider the chips a bit bland in comparison to other restaurants. The queso isn't what I want from queso. It was more of a paste than a general queso blanco which I prefer. However, the more you eat of it, the better it becomes, so be sure to eat your money's worth of the order. The Smothered Burrito (which I ordered as a bowl for gluten sensitivity) was delicious! It was savory, cheesy, saucey, and had a surprisingly deep flavor that was just asking to be scooped and eaten with chips. The Baja Shrimp Tacos were not out of this world, especially for the price, but they were still good. Good shrimp is good so, if that's what you're looking for, you'll be satisfied. If we're strictly speaking in terms of food, there are plenty of better and cheaper options around. But, paired with its fun 'hangout' atmosphere and great service, the total experience is well worth a trip even if you may find better Mexican...
Read moreIf you're someone who is looking for a âMexican restaurantâ with zero ties to Mexican food besides the names of menu items, and was created by people with aversion to seasoning, no taste and the humor of mid 2000 high schoolers, then you're in luck because local cantina is just for you!
I stopped by to grab a quick meal after a long drive and it's hard to put into words how unimaginably bad the food was. It lacked all flavor besides a hint of sour, not from sour cream but from veggies past their prime and dirty flattop. I ordered a burrito that came with overcooked plain white rice, black beans poured straight from a can, slimy off putting (probably out of date) peppers and onions, pico that consisted of more tomato core than flesh and overcooked bland chicken.
The only reason I would consider 2 stars instead of 1 is because the staff was only slightly annoyed that I was there an hour before they close but not inherently rude.
I honestly wasn't even going to write this review because the restaurant was so bad that giving even a second more thought to the meal was more than this place deserves but to my dismay Iâve also had food poisoning for the last day and a half to remind me of the mistake I made of choosing...
