Blue Tropix Bar — Restaurant in Oʻahu

It's a great bar, great loacation...but...I was just there tonight, on Saturday, ONE waitress, ONE bartender and the place was pretty busy. I'd highly recommend the place...but they need proper staffing. Management needs to ALWAYS be prepared for busy nights. The ONE bartender and ONE waiterss were doing their best, although so many people in the party room, in the vip room, sitting on the outer tables and at the bar were waiting well over 20 minutes for their drinks and food. It's sad that many people might have been blaming the ONE bartender and ONE waitress, but it wasn't their fault, it was a management problem. Management didnt want to come in to help, nor other staff. My suggestion to the bar owner, hire much better management and staff who would come in to help on busy nights. The available TWO staff were incredibly professional doing everything they could to tend to the patrons. Sadly, I believe most of them would not want to come back due to the staff shortage. Let me reiterate, it was NOT the ONE bartender's and ONE waiterss's fault, it was ALL management's. I'll also add that the door guy wasn't outside to card ANYONE. Underaged kids could go drinking...

I met some co-workers there for a going - away party. It was my first time there. First impression is that it is a local dive sports bar. Its not a huge place and it reminded me of a bowling alley as far as decor is concerned. There are a few tvs on the walls. The bar is in the center of the room with some tables and booths surrounding it. It seemed like there were quite a few locals there. When I arrived at 9 it was pretty busy. I would say about 3/4 full but by 11 was nearly empty. This was on a Friday night. The waitstaff was nice but the service was mediocre. The bathrooms were in need of some serious attention. The taps stopped working after I had one pint and everything I wanted to drink was on tap so that was a bit of an inconvenience though not necessarily their fault. Overall it's a decent place. I've been there quite a few times. I just moved to the area looking for a go to bar. I'm a manager at a restaurant. Service is terrible. I actually asked the bartender why I can't get a drink after being there for over 20 mins. I told him I was looking for a good place to go after work on a regular basis. He told me it was nothing personal then walked away. Bartenders are terrible. I'm a real good tipper being in in the industry. I went there on a Sunday afternoon to watch football and they were closed. Makes no sense. The only positive thing I can say is the food was good if you can get someone to take your order. This place is minutes from my house. It sucks that they don't want new customers there or so the bartender told me that. This place has huge potential if it was managed right. That would explain why I've never seen more than 15 to 20...
