The owner and Chef has done it again! Opening a successful restaurant with delicious, flavorful food, awesome customer service, and a great venue right in the heart of Kailua! Southern barbecue is pretty scarce in Hawaii and Easy Que not only delivers this type of food, but delivers it with a local twist....the amazing sauces that you can pair with the meats.
There are three sauces, classic over easy, crackseed bbq, and kailua green. The one that I just cannot get enough of is the Kailua green! It is sooo good and has a green thai curry flavor. The taste of this is unique and nothing I have ever had so definitely try this and all the sauces to decide what you like best.
I had trouble deciding what to get, so what did we do? Order a little bit of everything and share it all!
We got both types of briskets, the regular one and the kalbi one. The kalbi one is slightly sweeter than the regular one, but essentially it tastes similar to each other, so order one or the other.
Chicken wings - smoked, delicious, and couldn't get enough of the flavor. Definitely a must try.
Curry roasted cauliflower - so tasty and massive! very flavorful and cooked tender. Beware, you will have to cut it up yourself, but half the fun is working for your food right?
Veggies: Pickled Okra - I quite enjoyed these, especially since I like the texture and slim of okra! This was a great dish to balance the salt of the other dishes.
Smoked Brussel Sprouts - tasty and delicious. Cooked well and not blackened.
Drinks: Get the adult slushies! It was soo good and nostalgic of the hawaiian sun drinks! I got it mixed and layered so I got to try all the flavors. Definitely worth a try.
Service: Outstanding and everyone greeted with a smile. They really got the service down. Questions were welcomed and staff did not seem reluctant at all! Was a great experience.
Parking....hmm well, everyone from Kailua knows that this has always been an issue with this laot....the limited parking. But you know what, parking on the street is essentially free in Kailua during dinner time! Might as well park a little further and get some steps in cause you know you'll need to walk off some of the calories after...

With that you get 3 meats and 3 sides. We love Mac & cheese so we doubled up on that!! We chose brisket, Kalua pork and Ribs( to note read carefully about that as we were confused) if you chose brisket add 3 bucks, if you add ribs it's +10 bucks. On first read it's not that clear. In any case that's what we did, the ribs were a bit dry but had a good taste. Add their classic BBQ sauce and it's fine. The pork was really tasty!! Good without any sauce. Now the Brisket was really good 👍👍 had a really good taste and tender and losts of juice. Not sure about the run that was used but maybe a little nutmeg and brown sugar. It was good, nthe best thing on the table. Now the Mac & cheese was really good too. They used bigger 🐚 which is different but really cheesey and tasty not bad and we are picky about our MaC!! The back beans was something else, totally different from your usual BBQ spot beans. They put their own spin on it for sure!!? Really good really good!! What killed the experience as a whole was our waitress. She was really nice and cool but when we asked about the bill regarding a higher price then expected and she explained it to us....and we seen we just didn't read it through on different prices when it comes to the ribs!! Ok all good whatever our bad...but her attitude just flipped and was sour and upset...like she had to fork out the money 🤦🤷 it was just rude and unnecessary and we didn't have an attitude about the whole thing!! So it killed it for us to be honest!! It's not just the food, it's the service, atmosphere etc... So we won't go back not just on that but, when it come to BBQ it has to be right across the Board!!! Whiskey 808 down the Block has it all. Officially our new BBQ spot. If you do go here try the beans and...
Read moreObjectively: Greeting: Good hostess who was very welcoming. It took about 45 minutes to get seated without reservations as it was peak timing, and this place is apparently very popular! I suggest reservations, which they do accept.
Service: Waited 20 minutes for someone to take a drink order. Waited another 15-20 for someone to bring them. Waiter was kind and was just doing his best based on the busy nature of the place. It was peak timing, so I it did take awhile to get food. It was probably another 45 minutes before we got our food from ordering.
Atmosphere: It has an outside and inside seating. The outside is kind of like a busy garden party. The tables are VERY close together and they aren't the same size. They put two of them together in an awkward formation on the front deck next to a window. They weren't the same size and it was awkward for our party. It still had a nice feel to it. I just wish they maybe took out about 10% of the seating they had now. Like I said, this place is popular.
Food/Menu: All of my family left food on their plate that they just weren't impressed with (hardly ever happens). Namely, the basics of macaroni and cheese and fried chicken were not to our liking. We're southern mainland people and it just wasn't for us. However, it seems other people love it. We liked the cornbread okay and kalua pork was fair.
The menu was not as diversified as I had hoped for.
I feel like this is the place you would come to have drinks and apps with your friends versus really eat a meal. It would be ideal for that, honestly.
Parking: Shares parking with a couple surrounding shops. At peak timing, parking was at a premium and almost a struggle. But we did find something on the back side of the building.
Cost: Meals run in the $18 - $20 range for...
