My lunch at BCD in Kailua was very disappointing. No one is there to greet/seat you, the 1 waitress was 'in the back' according to what [appeared to be] someone dressed to clean floors. (Sloppy, wrinkled clothing, unkempt hair--a worker off duty? Sitting in the dinning room. ) The waitress did come out and told us to sit anywhere--I had to request the table to be wiped, as there was glass 'marks' on the wood. We ordered and waited 45 minutes for the substandard food. I had the BBQ chicken salad. The luttace was wilted, I counted around 10 flakes of shredded cheese, the tomatoes appeared it was left out for hours, not even sharpely cut with a knife or cold, around 8 pieces of tortilla chips? And one kernal of corn which I asked not to be included. (Why do all the salads come with corn? NEVER heard of that in other eating places.) (I watched another customer come in and sit, and proceeded to wipe their table with their napkins; the husband showing his wife the dirty napkin afterwards!) After dining I asked the waitress why a yellow butterfly looking craft (?) Was taped on the wall above each table. She said it was to discourage the bugs in the air, ( of which I had noticed some kind of bugs flying around.) We left. Overall, we did not feel any kind of caring, professionalism, no smile, thank-you. You couldn't distinguish the waitress from the customers who were all casually dressed. The staff attire was very sloppy and messy looking, and reflected their care-less attitude. The inside looked like it needed to be cleaned; brown stains on the ceiling! We do not plan to dine at any BCD restaurants...

Service: the waitress proved to me that some should ppl are just terrible--and unfit--at their job. Rude and condescending, her tone biting, the waitress treated my wife, my mom, and my friend as strangers, and worse, as little kids.
We should have known better to step foot in big city diner. Entering the place, we were greeted by... No one. The place was largely empty at noon, with a few patrons parked at the bar and only three groups at the booths.
I wonder why the place was so dead at peak lunch?
Do ppl like the food? I guess it's OK. What about the ambiance? Booths are comfy and private.
What about the service? Oh yeah, the waitress is trash, making an average dining experience into a complete exercise in frustration...
Read moreI bought vouchers from Costco in order to try the Hawaiian Diner experience, so the built in discount was well worth getting the vouchers for $79.99 for the $100 value. Ordered the meatloaf plate- surprisingly good! Well seasoned, moist and the sides of steamed veges and mash potatoes were substantial and complimentary. Also got the keiki hamburger meal. Also good value and substantial. We sat inside and the ambiance was homely and casual. The service was ok. The servers could know their product better as they weren’t answering our queries adequately. So it was a lucky dip meal that turned out quite pleasant. Overall a good experience. I would recommend, and would come back to try the...
