My wife and I had lunch here and were pleasantly surprised at how authentic and delicious the food was. She ordered a grande chicken burrito and I got the chicken tamale plate. The flavor of the chicken in both was robust, moist, and had an adequate amount of spice, especially when adding the salse verde (which was surprisingly tasty as most lack in flavor). Even the rice and beans (whole, not refried) had good flavor! Growing up eating tamales every Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's nice to find a place that sticks to the basics and cooks authentic Mexican food. The owner was very nice and had a radiant smile. The price was also agreeable given current food costs and labor required for traditional Mexican cuisine. If you are a fan of Hispanic food, don't want to break the bank, and/or find yourself on Schofield with some extra time, I highly recommend giving Los...
Read moreOkay first of all the food here is absolutely amazing, and let me tell you about the family that owns it. I was 21 going through a divorce, staying with friends, and trying to get back on my feet. They hired me even though I couldn’t speak Spanish and gave me a chance to learn and earn money. They took me in like family, fed me, taught me so many valuable lessons, and a lot about cooking good food!!! I can tell you from a point of view many may not get, this family is up at the crack of dawn putting together their dishes for the day, all the meat is cooked on a grill out back fresh, all the salsas, tamales, pico, guac, all of it is homemade. Their food truck was very clean and well maintained. I am forever grateful to have had the experience I did with them! I still to this day make my tacos, burritos, tamales, and tostadas the way this family...
Read moreI frequent here for their chicken tacos. $3 a taco works for me, but they have had Taco Tuesday specials in the past during limited hours, so be sure to check before assuming its an all day-all Tuesday thing. I find their flavors to be fresh and intense, with their pico de gallo on the tacos being house made with fresh jalapenos and tomatoes and not watery.
I have tried their beef tacos, cheese quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, and chili relleno. Most of these I forgo for the chicken tacos as I find they highlight the best of the food available. Combos come with some pinto beans and rice, which are nothing special. I did really like that they kept their chili relleno free of too much sauce, so that the batter and fry had a chance to still be flavorful and not sogged down, however this wasnt a full crunchy fry, but more of an egg...
