Uncles NY truly is a great pizza experience. I was quite surprised with how big their pieces are and the diversity of the menu. For today's review, I'll only focus on observations and taste as I did not dine in. The look and feel of the interior of the restaurant felt very cozy and classic all at the same time. At a good time of the day take a gaze towards the back end of the restaurant because the view out towards the pond behind really made my time at the restaurant as if it was a hidden getaway. The staff member who helped me with my order was very friendly and helped guide me through its diverse menu of pizzas, sandwiches, calzones, and strombolis. As far as taste is concerned, the crust was spot on and the pizza did not disappoint as far as toppings are concerned. Some places you go to are very conservative even when you ask for extra, but not this place. I did not particularly enjoy my Chicago Dip sandwich, as it was bland, the meat was not well seasoned, and the accompanying vegetables had conflicting flavors for my palate. I would like to try some of the other offered sandwiches on the menu before I come to a definitive decision regarding them as a whole. The menu overall is on the pricey side, so be prepared to spend. That being said, I probably would try to fare with a smaller pizza next time as we had plenty left over afterwards. Uncles is a good place to eat, we loved their pizza and will...
Read moreA buddy of mine took me here for lunch, I loved this spot. It's a pizza, pasta, and subs joint, they also serve beer and spirits as well. They sell pies by the slice (1 slice = 1/4 pizza). I ordered a slice of meat lovers, a slice of BBQ chicken and a cannoli. The Pizza is definitely NY style, foldable, but the crust has a crunch and is perfect and not too soft. No overflowing toppings or too much cheese to make it soggy. But perfect amounts of toppings and spread around so every bite has some of everything. The cannoli was perfect, filled all the way through with mascarpone and little dollop of whipped cream, the shell is crunchy and what you would expect of a proper cannoli shell. If you're going for lunch, parking is in abundance, as well as the seating. Definitely a recommended pizza joint if you miss your NY style back home. Pricing is very reasonable and portions are good sized to either save a half slice for later or fill you up if your hungry after a long hike. Beer and sodas are cold...
Read moreAs an Italian New Yorker I'm a harsh critic of all things Italian but uncles lives up to the hype. Even though they have been open for a while living in Aiea I don't get to their neighborhood much anymore but after hearing the radio commercials over and over I was intrigued and looked them up and had to try for myself. The shop is beautiful inside, well decorated in New York decor. Clean and roomy with plenty of seating, staff was friendly the owners wife helped us and was very nice. We ordered a whole pie and some garlic knots and the only disappointment was the knots took a while because they weren't made ☹️ but once we got them they were great and will make a great snack at home. The only one thing I would change is the meat and I'm a true boars Head only guy but that's ok I'll still give their subs a try next time. Definitely check them out if you haven't already. Hey UNCLE how about you open up a shop in Aiea , Pearl ridge and save...
