Came in to get a birthday reward and buy a treat for myself. I understand from experience that working in customer service sucks sometimes, especially food service, but I expect people that work in this field to at least feign interest or appreciation for customers.
I was asked "do you have a rewards card?" I said no I don't have the card but I can tell you my #. Staff member pointed at pad to enter #, so I did.
"You have a free coffee, tea, or soda." she stated and seemed impatient when I took a moment to respond. So I quickly picked coffee, attempting to ask a question regarding availability of hazelnut iced coffee that ended up being misunderstood...so then i just ordered a chocolate pastry and she went to get it.
It was brought back and then I clarified my earlier question and apologized needlessly explaining that i wanted to switch back to hot coffee so I could get the hazelnut (which only requires a change of cup).
Anyway, my main complaint here is that there was never a simple utterance of "happy birthday" not was there ever a "no prob" or "that's okay" - instead I got impatience and no good will whatsoever.
In fact, I decided to ask her how her day was after this, just to see what would happen. The staff member stated "it's my Friday" and then trailed off to say something about what she was doing over the weekend to a colleague standing next to her.
I responded something like, "oh, that's cool" and paid. She didn't seem interested at all in trying to ask how my day was or anything. That was it - on to the next customer. I realize maybe, just maybe, I expect too much. But is it really that hard? With all due respect, this isn't just an issue with one person at a random Panera. I see this almost...

Yes, i did. Got them home and they weren't sliced....they were shredded. I told her not to use the hand slicer because it destroys the bagels (case and point). I told her to use the electric slicing machine, but she refused. Now I can't get my bagels into a toaster at home. They owe me new bagels. These need to go in the garbage because I don't like them unless they are toasted. If you don't even know how to slice a bagel when you work in a bagel shop, you need training. A teenager who flips hamburgers at mcdonald's could have done a better job.
UPDATE: Thursday October 12th, 2023. I went back and wanted to outsmart their unskilled staff....and ordered 6 unsliced bagels. When I pulled the bagels out of the bag for breakfast the next morning, 3 of them were sliced (or should I say "hacked up") from previous orders that had been destroyed by their staff. Instead of tossing them out, they put the "pieces" of the bagels back in the baskets with the new bagels...knowing full well that I wouldn't discover their deception until I had already left the building. They literally sent me home with the shredded scraps. These 3 (of the 6) bagels were completely destroyed just like in the attached photo. I'm going to have a long winded discussion with the manager when I pass through their area again. They score LESS...
Read moreI visited this location today around 6:00pm. Although this did not happen to me, I witnessed it, and I was shocked. The workers were not placing orders on the designated rapid pickup and delivery shelves, so everyone was gathered around the counter where they pass out orders. I witnessed a gentleman who was waiting for his order for a while before asking the workers about it. When he asked the workers about it, a middle-aged man with a red polo shirt who I’m assuming was a supervisor or manager told the gentleman “you have to speak up my guy I’m not a mind reader.” then a middle-aged woman with dark and gray hair with a black patterned shirt felt it necessary to tell them same gentleman “speak up” as if they weren’t both rude enough to this gentleman the middle-aged man in the red shirt decided to throw in another “I can’t read minds”. Who talks to customers like that? Especially when you the workers aren’t placing the orders on the designated shelves. He shouldn’t have had to ask for his delivery order in the first place, but since you failed to do your job, he had to. This Panera is the worst Panera I’ve ever been to. Don't take your frustrations out of customers because you're upset...
