China Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Oak Grove

Look, you're getting what you pay for here. Don't expect a gourmet level for food quality, because it's just not at that level. But if you are familiar with the typical Chinese buffet, this is definitely a few notches above the rest. Environment: For one thing, it's fairly clean and does not look run down. We've all been to places that look shady and dirty, this is not one of them. The music they play in the background isn't to my liking at all (it's a hot mess of top 40 garbage leaning more towards inappropriate songs for families, seriously I don't want to hear about her "sexy ass" as I'm chewing on an egg roll). I think I'd rather even hear traditional Chinese music over that, but that's merely preference and a trivial gripe honestly. Staff: The staff is "usually" very friendly and attentive (I say usually because on most occasions they are, and on one or 2 other occasions the guy didn't get our drinks right even after refills etc, and seemed off in lala land). But 99% of the time they are always watching to ensure your drink is full (sometimes almost too often like another person stated) but I actually have ZERO complaints about that part tbh, I'd rather have that than the alternative which irritates me. Yes it's true, they say very little to you and aren't interested in chit chat, they let you get down to eating, and only come around to fill drinks and clear plates... Did you want anything different at a friggin' buffet? I did have one weird incident the last time we went, when we 1st walked in and she brought us to a table it was literally right next to another family when there were plenty of other empty tables, so we politely asked to be seated at a booth and she was very visibly annoyed, but said nothing as she guided us to a booth. Anyway onto the FOOD: It's great honestly. Above average fair. If you're going into this expecting something better, look elsewhere. Every item is almost always filled and is hot/cold appropriately. There has to be easily 30+ different selections and that's not including the Mongolian grill/Sushi/Dessert areas. Overall I'd rate the experience a B+/A- if you go here knowing...

I visited there around 2pm with a couple of friends and didn’t get the best experience. A lot of the food dishes were empty when we went up to get food, so we got other food in the meantime and figured they were just back making more to replace the empty dishes up front for customers. We went back and still barely any food options were there so we were curious as to why nothing was being brought out. The waitress was absolutely horrible to us. And after reading other reviews I was shocked the same experience was happening with others, as they are obviously not trying to improve the staffs work attitude. She got us our drinks one time and that was it. Although there was a time that she asked us if we wanted refills and we said yes.... but never got them. Her and a lot of other workers were sitting in a booth near us just talking the entire time not doing any work, not attending to any of the other 5 tables with customers there. She brought us our checks and although we always have left tips in the past, we decided to not leave a tip because we did not get service. We witnessed them sit there and talk the whole time we were there. She stood there as we all got our credit cards out and signed our checks. She continued standing there looking through all the checks as we were finished and gasped then said “why no tip? I get tip from you”, we all kinda looked at each other confused as to why she deserved a tip when she didn’t get us refills when we asked and she just sat there talking the whole time. She was not leaving and neither could we because she was standing in front of out table blocking off the way out of our booth so I just got $3 out of my wallet and gave it to her. She then stormed around the whole restaurant talking to her coworkers in a language we could not understand waving the $3 in the air with a very mean look on her face. Which then lead all of the other workers giving us mean looks as we left. Great service gets great tips. No service gets no tips, so why expect money from us when you didn’t do anything for us? Most definitely will never go back, and now all our friends and family know to not go...

Edit to review since the Owner is spreading lies. To respond back, the police officer told us that we could leave and didn't have to pay for the 5 bites of food that we did get to eat before your display of action you say your employees had. The two youngest people, the woman and man, did indeed laugh about the situation. And the 911 call wasn't prompt what so ever. My mother literally had to ask someone to call 911. Which wasn't done until several minutes had already passed. You guys truthfully need to get shutdown and I hope that the wife pursues legal action. Which she is perfectly allowed to do so. Again. The lack of empathy from the entirety of the staff was astonishing.

I am beside myself. This place is disgusting and I'm not talking about just the food. A man sat here and choked to death and as the whole restaurant was freaking out, the ENTIRE wait staff was standing around laughing. None of them called 911 until they got yelled at to do so.
