First off, we love Wildlife, their food and staff. It’s a cozy little diner with great people. We always go there when in town. We have owned a place on the island since 2000 and go often. However, the diner is now under new ownership, we found out today. They are NOT serving breakfast all day any longer, Sundays are closed at 11:30am, 3% charge for credit OR debit cards, no meat and 2 sides (only one), and no biscuit or roll past breakfast time! Not good changes (reason for 3 stars instead of 5). CHARGING A SURCHARGE FOR A DEBIT CARD IS ILLEGAL! I hope the new owners realize that! The old saying about fixing stuff that isn’t broken applies here. I respect the new owners’ right to change or update things. I feel badly for the staff that depend on the extra hours on Sunday (a busy day) and for the locals who depend on the menu items and availability of items. These changes will not be popular. Sigh.
Is Debit Card Surcharging Legal?

Read moreI have been living in Southport for a long time and I can't believe I never tried this delightful place until today. I read a review that talked about the smell of sewage in the dining area and the only smell was the smell of food being cooked. Another person talked about it being pricey for the amount of food served, the portions were hefty and the price was right. I had a cheeseburger with cheese sticks and sweet tea, delicious. My friend had the patty melt on rye with fried okra, sweet tea and he loved it. The staff was so down to earth that I felt like I knew them all my life. We can't wait to try breakfast. We definitely will be eating here a lot more. Highly recommend this locally...
Read moreI wanted to try this place after coming to Southport for many years. I was disappointed that they ran out of grits because I got here a little late like 10:30 and breakfast over at 11. Tt the owner who was very rude and had never had a customer complain about not having grits. I asked about making customer happy and she said they make a pot of grits and if they run out oh well. They only take cash and I specifically got cash to come here.
If the bridge was open I would have gone to another local place but not many on this side.
The owner is not nice and in no way sorry they ran out as they cannot judge.
I will not be back have not gotten my food...
