I wanted to love this place. This was everything I’ve ever wanted in a local brewery, small, beautifully decorated in classic charm, and a great (though small) selection of beer. I’m not sure what it was, maybe I gave off a bad vibe, maybe the bartender was having a bad day, I don’t know what it was. One server came up to ask what myself and my boyfriend would like, we hadn’t decided yet so we mentioned we need a minute. I believe the bartender came next and we ordered. Our drinks came very quickly and while they weren’t what we expected, they were good! My boyfriend had to run home to switched the laundry to the dryer (we live right down the street) and in the 15 minutes he was gone, no one came to ask if I needed anything even though my drink was nearly empty. When he returned we waited an additional 5 minutes before I approached the bar to pay our tab. Again I waited. Maybe the bartender didn’t see me, I was a bit out of the way, and he was talking to customers. But after few minutes I felt silly standing there with other customers watching me. The first server came out of the kitchen and happily helped me, we settled the tab and got the hell out of dodge. I wasn’t in the best mood, we just moved and we were both stressed, but I’d been so excited to try this place I was really disappointed. We won’t be back again, but with all the other good reviews I’m hopeful this was an...
Read moreBeer is good. Food is good. Atmosphere is good. Decor is good. But I must address two things that haven't been mentioned in reviews yet.
The mustard. Its a crime that the mustard cannot be canned in the crowlers. My life be complete if I could get a crowler of the Altbier and the mustard both canned by the extraordinary bartender Joe (if this happens I might be willing to believe that unicorns are real).
The bathrooms. Speaking strictly about my experience in the men's room, I can say Kinslahger has the finest bathroom of any bar/taproom I have christened on the north side of Roosevelt ave. (I don't get out much). The Purell dispenser located immediately inside the entrance to bathroom exemplifies this establishment's commitment to cleanliness and decorum.
Overall great bar. I...
Read moreFinally made it out to Kinslahger and it did not disappoint! The beers were tasty and refreshing, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the staff is top notch friendly! Really glad to have this place close to home! This place is great to this seeking true to style beers. For some pretzels to-go too! Can't wait to come back! Anyone claiming this place doesn't have high standards on cleanliness, hasn't actually been here or know anything about beer - let alone what it takes to make good, clean beers. Kinslahger uses Star San to disinfect their taps, Google it if you don't know Anyway, for real, check this place out if you're looking for great beers at a...
