Ambience: The inside of Catrinas is a bright and colorful place. There's Catrinas or "dia de los muertos" decorations all over the walls. Latin music is always playing lightly in the background. (banda, cumbia, bachata) It's typically not busy unless you arrive around noon during week days. Staff: Every employee I've interacted with at Catrinas was polite and always willing to help with smile. Most are immigrants, very hard working people. Drinks: They have traditional mexican drinks like agua de horchata and agua de jamaica, they also have mexican coke and jarritos. One of the few places that also sell Negra modelo. Food: This is my go to spot. Been coming here for years and I always order the same thing. A Catrina bowl with Mexican rice, black beans, fajitas, carnitas, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, jalapeños and salsa de arbol. If you like Chipotle you're going to love this place. I think Catrinas gives bigger portions, better tasting food for a cheaper price. However their carnitas recipe is not traditional. They also have burritos, tacos and quesadillas. Price: I usually take a picture of the receipt so I can upload it on these Google reviews but I've been coming to this location for years so I know the price is always just shy of $11. I think its worth it. Overall: For the quality of food, the quantity that they give you I haven't found a better restaurant outside of the twin cities. 100% recommend this place! The best things about Catrinas is their Catrinas punch card. After 8 meals you get...
Read moreI had heard both good and bad reviews, but I wanted to try this for myself. First of all, the drinks took 20 minutes to make and while they were decent, they were over priced. $8 for a small marg and $5 for a draft beer is pretty pricey. When we finally got to our table it took forever to order and they don't bring out free chips and salsa. We went ahead and got 2 orders of chips anyway, which I will say they were very fresh and tasted good. About 1 minute before our order came out our waiter informed us that they ran out of rice.. REALLY?! How does that happen? They did not offer to give us a discount on our meal but offered us mashed potatoes or french fires. I am eating mexican food, why would I even want either of those? My tacos were extremely sub par, I got 2 and couldn't even finish 1, the enfrioladas had a 4 inch chicken bone in it and the other meal we got they forgot to stuff half of the shell with meat. I didn't even try the fries they brought. This was just so disappointing and I don't know what the owner is trying to do with the menu. Every other menu item is mexican, then american, with no consistency or organization. I will not...
Read moreWish I could do negative stars. We used to love this place. I know so many people who won’t go to Catrina’s anymore. Inflation happened yes, but RICE isn’t expensive. Last 3 times I ordered a bowl, they gave me 1/2 scoop. So unreasonable. This place was the “go to.”
Likely won’t be back. It’s too bad, met the owners multiple times, they seem like great businessmen. But this doesn’t depict “caring for customers.”
When I asked tonight for a “normal” scoop of rice (I hope the owners look at the cameras 4:35 tonight) she said she would have to charge me extra. The scoop didn’t even cover HALF the bottom of the bowl. I said oh no I’ll leave, she LET ME leave and said BYE. She couldn’t have cared less. I was ordering a bowl and a quesadilla. That’s $25 worth of food. There was not one person in the restaurant, and she didn’t even TRY to keep a customer? Sad. It’s sad for the owners, who built this place to be something great.
asked for salsa on the side, GOT CHARGED for it (on multiple visits)
People are ordering extra everything at chipotle and walking out. Lucky it hasn’t here yet.
Save your money and go to...
