The service and atmosphere here are excellent. Both deserve five stars. The staff were attentive, polite, and genuinely made us feel welcome. The restaurant has a warm, inviting vibe that made the experience enjoyable from the moment we sat down.
Food is where things fell short for me. I have lived in places where Mexican food is part of daily life. I was in El Paso for over 16 years with frequent family trips across the border, and I often ate in Juárez as well. I also lived in Tucson, Arizona, where flour tortillas are everywhere and chimichangas are very popular. On top of that, I have traveled to New Mexico specifically to eat at La Posta and I have eaten at countless restaurants in El Paso like Rosa’s Cantina. With that kind of background, I have been lucky to experience some truly authentic chimichangas, so I came in with a solid frame of reference.
The chimichanga here was one of the better attempts I have seen in Florida, but it did not quite hit the mark. The green salsa, while said to be made in house, tasted more like something from a jar to me. My beans had a slight coffee note (though my wife’s beans tasted normal, so maybe it was just an isolated case with my plate). The rice was not bad, but it had the distinct taste of parboiled rice, which I personally do not enjoy. The taco selection was limited, no Al Pastor, and lengua (which appears in Google photos) was not on the menu.
On the positive side, the chips and salsa were excellent. Both salsas had great flavor (the spicier one stood out), and the chips were fresh and perfectly done, which most places do not get right.
In short: amazing service and atmosphere, average food that did not quite match the authenticity I have grown up around. That lands at 3 stars overall. Not bad, not great, but worth visiting for the hospitality and...
Read moreA bit disappointed. A real "authentic" Mexican restraunt has real burritos. REAL Mexican food, period!!! All they have here are called wet burritos, which means only meat and cheese inside, with a serving of rice and beans (black beans) if that. Very disappointed, expected "authentic." NOT AN AUTHENTIC MEXICAN RESTRAUNT! I only gave the 2 stars because the wait staff is friendly, fast and the chips and salsa were very good (which is the only authentic Mexican I ate here). I ordered a churasco steak, also a bit disappointed in what I got. A real Mexican restraunt serves pinto beans with yellow rice---NOT white rice, with black beans, and sweet plantains,(that is what is served at a "Cuban" restraunt. My father ordered, Ropa vieja, another thing that's a typical Cuban dish. Except here They DON'T shred the beef the way Cubans do. It looked more like chunks of cut up steak in a sauce, (almost like a can of chunk dog food).I know what a real authentic Mexican restraunt is------this is a wanna be version. If anything this is more to the CUBAN side of food. They should change the sign outside to Cuban/some Mexican food. Extremely disappointed.👎👎 Will never come back. If you want "REAL MEXICAN" food. I DON'T recommend this restraunt. Was extremely disappointed in what I saw as Mexican and what I actually ate...
Read moreWow where do I start... I am not from Mexican decent but grew up around the Mexican cuisine. I took a gamble today, had the craves for tacos and burritos etc.. ordered 2-carne asada tacos and the steak burrito which was over priced by the way, $16 for a standard burrito only because they make it with skirt steak meat no no no, so I ordered and thought that it was going to be a fairly good size burrito and with a decent amount of meat... boy was I wrong, the to go box where burrito sits on looked like soup was poured over it not the way a burrito should be served reminded me of an overstuffed enchilada never again. The two tacos not to bad meat needed some salt and more flavor and it was a bit oily for my taste...over all tacos get a 2 out of 5 and the burrito a 1 out of 5 wouldn’t recommend the tacos or the burrito on their menu... can’t say anything else about the rest of the menu items since I have not tried and will not even think about trying, first and last time I visit....If a so called Mexican restaurant can’t make decent taco or burritos I will not have faith on the rest of the food. The only reason I stoped by there today was because my Mexican spot is closed for vacation Alegria Tacos just across the ways from this place highly recommend...
