I’ve driven past this restaurant many times, and I finally decided to stop and give it a try. I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant at first since my experiences with other Peruvian restaurants in the past have been pretty disappointing. However, this visit turned out to be a pleasant surprise!
Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted by the owner, Veronica, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She took the time to explain the menu and even highlighted their famous cabrito a la norteña dish. Although I wasn’t very hungry and decided to order anticuchos, Veronica went above and beyond by bringing me a small sample of the cabrito to try while I waited.
That thoughtful gesture alone was enough to win me over, but the flavors sealed the deal. The cabrito was incredibly authentic and tasted just like I remember from my time in Peru. The anticuchos were equally amazing—packed with the rich, unmistakable flavors of Peruvian cuisine. I was not disappointed in the slightest!
The personal touch and genuine hospitality I experienced here, along with the delicious food, make me want to come back and try more dishes from their menu. This is an honest review from a Peruvian, and I highly recommend giving this...
Read moreI love Peruvian food and try Peruvian restaurants all over the CA and US when I find them. This is one of the tastiest and seemed authentic for many reasons (I’ve been to S America but not Peru).
We got the lomo saltado with fried rice instead of white rice, and this crispy skin (pan fried?) tender and succulent half chicken with a lime-y tangy kick, soft potatoes with a slight crisp on the edges. My nephew and I thought everything was good (no duds), well prepared and super flavorful.
The aji verde sauce is so good and addictive. It felt like we could be in Peru with the lady (owner?) speaking mostly Spanish but very hospitable and responsive, aiming to please.
I eat out regularly and seek out the best restaurants, especially ethnic and authentic (not the fancy ones as much but sometimes), and thought this was one of the best meals I’ve had this year. Everything was...
Read moreOh my gosh, I’m so excited to finally have a Peruvian restaurant here in Oakland! As a Peruvian myself, I know how picky we can be about our food—every region in Peru has its own unique style, and we all cook a little differently. That’s why I was so thrilled to find this place and even more thrilled to meet Veronica, the owner. She is the sweetest person ever and pours so much love into her cooking. I ordered the causa and anticuchos, and they were amazing! The anticuchos, especially, were cooked perfectly—well-done, just the way I like them. Honestly, I’m so impressed I’m actually considering investing in this place (half-joking)! I have a feeling it could turn into the next Cholita Linda if that’s what Veronica envisions. Overall, the food is incredible, and I’m so grateful this spot exists....
