China Wok — Restaurant in Oakland

Been wanting to try this place because nobody seems to have anything good to say about it and I like to make my OWN reviews about places. I just went and got a to-go box from there, got a little of everything to make an accurate review. First thing I tried was the chicken stick, and I was like MM! Okay! Lol so that was super good. The second thing I tried was the dumplings and they were extra good! And the dippy sauce for them is super good but has a liiiiittle spice. Which was fine. I just don’t like spicy too much but it was still super good. Everything else was really good too! And those bananas with the strawberry sauce were quite bitchin. Wish there was some whipped cream for them tho and they woulda been way over the top. Yum! Try this place yourself and make your own review. Bad experiences will always happen everywhere you go. The best part of the experience was the pre packed fortune cookie. “Kind words can be short & easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless”. Unfortunately I have no kind words for this location. At $10 a plate, the buffet was pretty sparse. Only one table of options which were reheated to serve. They clearly were not freshly made. The shrimp still had their sand vein (poop) attached. The egg roll tasted like the meat was spoiled. The potsticker looked raw in the middle and unevenly cooked on the outside. There is a sign when you walk in which instructs you to help yourself at the buffet and grab a drink from the cooler. I grabbed my paper plate and a solo cup of water. I will never go back and am praying I don’t get food poisoning from this experience. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is amazing. They have always had the best quality of Chinese food. Did they reduce there size of food selection during Covid? Yes they did but the quality was still the same. Did it take them awhile to recover after Covid. Yes it did. But at least they didn’t give up and close the doors like so many other places did. They are back to 100 percent the way they used to be.
