El Canelo Motel — Hotel in Oakland

Never again. This place is rundown and the room had an odor. The mattresses were worn out. It made us worry about insects, even though we didn't see any. You almost have to make an appointment to get somebody to come to the front counter. We stayed here because we wanted to eat at the Mexican restaurant (under the same roof), which turns out to be closed on Sundays (the day we were here, of course). I've stayed numerous times in the past 10 years with little or no complaints. They are very clean & reasonably priced. The owner & front desk treat u with respect & they also work with the community & through places like Garrett County Community Action & the Garrett County Health Department they offer a place to stay for people in need or people that are homeless.
