Las Margarita's — Restaurant in Oakland

I wish I could say this was better it was looking like a good place. The food was inexpensive and it's in an easy location to get to. However the service was terrible and the food left a lot to be desired. We walked in and were seated immediately, however our waitress took a while to come to our table and even walked by us several times before acknowledging us. My wife and I ordered margaritas she got a mango and I got just a lime and mine was meh but hers had so much of the mango syrup, or how ever they flavor them, that it didn't even taste like a margarita it tasted like mango juice and it was thick enough that it was getting stuck in the straw. Then there was the food .... Everything on the menu was inexpensive but our experience with it was not good. I ordered a beef burrito smothered in cheese and It was good and my wife ordered something like taquitos. She ordered chicken but they brought out beef...when we pointed this out to the server she said they do that all the time....that seems like an issue by itself but whatever. So we sent it back and she brought out the chicken ones however they didn't re-plate it or anything, just threw the new taquitos on the plate which was now a mess since it was sent back had items removed and then replated....this seems like some what of a health concern but hey it gets worse. The chicken was charred to a barely edible state...this was offputting enough that after a few bites my wife had lost her appetite and we opted to just leave and not finish our meal and while I would have expected they at least offer to comp part of the meal to make up for all this they made no such offer. If I had been more confrontational I'm sure I could have asked to speak to a manager and something would have been offered however given the amount of time it took to get the check after I asked for it and the rest of our service experience I didn't bother as I just wanted to leave....good thing it was...

We ordered the fajitas and taco salad. We received the fajita meat first. About 3 minutes later the taco salad came out with a massive amount of sour cream and maybe a strand or two of shredded cheese. 2 minutes after that the rice comes out. Then we have to track down the waiter to ask him for cheese for the taco salad, to which he responded that it would be a $1.25 charge...ok, whatever, just bring it. At this point, I also have to request flour tortillas so that I can eat my fajitas. The waiter disappears again. 2 minutes later we catch him walking by and politely ask him for the tortillas and cheese again, and he looks at us like we are crazy and that it's the first time we have asked. When he comes back another 3 minutes later with the tortillas, we have to remind him again for the cheese. And the tortillas...were 2 small tortillas for a full portion of fajitas. We also came to discover that apparently their fajitas don't come with cheese, but they come with guac, pico, and a multitude of toppings, but not cheese. At this point, I ask for another side of cheese to use so that we both have enough. We both start eating, and now after this whole ordeal, my fajitas are cold. I'm starving at this point, so I eat them anyway. The second side of cheese never comes. I finish overloading the 2 measly tortillas and still have enough left to fill 2 more tortillas. Forget the fact that we had to wait 7 minutes after our drinks were empty to get a refill. We get the check and the cheese was $1.95, to fix her dish the way it should have been prepared originally. We take our bill to the front desk to check out, and the cashier asks if everything was alright with our meal. I politely responded, "no, it was not." And that was the end of the exchange. We were never asked what was wrong or if there was something they could do. It was like they just asked out of obligation, not that they cared even the slightest. We will NOT...

We have been loyal customers for 11 years, usually once a week. We have our favorite waitress and when she’s not there, we have a favorite waiter. She has been on a leave of absence and he wasn’t there tonight. They know us, they know what we drink and eat. They are the reason we continue to go to that location. Tonight we had another waiter, who was very nice. There was a small problem with our order and he got the manager on duty to come over to help us. The manager on duty was rude and uncaring, He recognized us as being very regular customers but was not accommodating at all. He did not even try to satisfy our concern. My husband was so surprised by this, he told him that we wouldn’t be back. The MOD said “ok” and just stood there staring at us. My husband finally asked him to go away. The last 2 or 3 visits we have noticed a huge decline in business. I hope the owner recognizes this lack of professional management and the loss of their best waitress has really has taken a toll on...
