Messob Ethiopian Restaurant — Restaurant in Oakland

I love this place, and it is the best Ethiopian food in the Bay Area once Ensarro closed down from a fire (hope they come back someday). I enjoy their meat and vegetarian combination plates. I saw a review about the lack of taste. I'm not sure what happened to them, but I always had a flavorful dish and it smells amazing (I get takeout here once every other week). That review also said it was too fragrant? I think they have never had Ethiopian food, because that's a normal expectation of their cuisine. I saw a review about the length of waiting for their food. The food is horrible and overpriced. I don’t understand how the people who’ve given positive reviews could enjoy it so much... possibly they’ve never had good Ethiopian food? I’ve eaten at many places in Oakland and Berkeley, and this food was definitely the most bland and a huge disappointment. I got the messob special, so I got to sample some of everything, and can say confidently that none of the dishes are good. One was even burnt.

On top of that, service was really bad.

It’s possible this was just an issue today and normally they’re better, but I won’t be coming back...

The two shiro ordered was Mixed with large enjeras. It was a very tiny shiro with lots of enjera wrapped around it. Lady said we should have said to separate it. Looking at the money paid for $15+ and what was given I will not recommend buying shiro from there. They don’t know how to prepare it. I bought another two shiro from another place same day and was told shiro is always separated because it’s like soup and should never be combined with enjera. Infact size was just perfect. A disaster from Messob and money wasted. And no vegetables added. Just small shiro like...
