Love ! THIS place and who knew that THIS restaurant was a chain?! Not Me. I've been WANTING to try THIS restaurant out for awhile, but just NEVER had the OPPORTUNITY to do it, you know, eat at it, patronize it, spend my hard earned working money there, except in MY case, I hadn't had the OPPORTUNITY to spend MY hard earned equity, until VERY VERY recently.
SO. After MY most recent dental hygiene appointment, I (that would be ME), decided to venture into Piedmont (an area I have come to enjoy, its soooo cute and quaint), and eat at CREPEVINE.
The hardest part about MY experience is ALL the dirty looks and glares I kept receiving from other patrons. I mean seriously, is it really such a bad thing when an Asian female, who happens to be by herself wants to enjoy a meal?! Apparently in Piedmont it is. There was one other Asian girl In the restaurant, BUT SHE was sitting across from a guy. Highly doubt, she rec'd ugly hard glares. But, I wouldn't know.
The environment was pleasant and calm when I arrived, but darkened and grew heavy real quick, ESPECIALLY when the glares began to happen. I have to assume that eating by oneself in the city of Piedmont is against the law/rules/city guidelines. Not sure. NO ONE speaks directly, just a lot of stares. Maaaaybe, there are unspoken rules that everyone in the Piedmont area, just knows to follow, kind of like Lafayette East Apartments, unspoken rules, I was expected to live and adhere to, but was never informed of, so basically I was set up to fail!
In fact, that happens a lot when I eat alone, and it's NOT just in Piedmont, NO. In fact, the stares have happened quite often in Concord AND Pleasant Hill, it's unnerving and unsettling to NOT feel safe in a restaurant, just to have a meal, have energy, be healthy.
BUT, THAT's, neither here nor there, SADLY. I've grown accustom to being GLARED AND STARED AT, in A TOXIC NEGATIVE UNSAFE WAY.
Back to MY meal at Crepevine. I found the food and service at THIS location to be impeccable, helpful, and very amiable, oh! And quick.
Instead of having a meal, I opted for dessert, Ohhhh oui oui, take me back to the city of Paris where Crepes are amply available by street vendors, all day and almost all night long, and they're gooood. Yum!
I ordered, the triple berry (Raspberry, Blueberry, and Strawberry. Not sure if they are farm fresh or not, but I needed MY fiber AND MY ANTIOXIDANTS - and I got them). There was a dollop of whip cream AND vanilla ice cream, so I got my dairy too. Of course, the Nutella gave the crepe that extra chocolaty gooeyness which just added more fiber and antioxidants to MY diet.
Service was quick, friendly and helpful and by the creativity of the chalkboard menu design a customer could be global and international in one sitting (or is that the same concept?!)
As far as price?! I didn't find MY order to be overly expensive one bit and parking, for me, that afternoon, was a breeze, it's all street parking, both metered and not (if you're lucky)
Looking forward to trying a different menu item, when I return! Maybe I'll go to...
Read moreI pleasantly enjoyed the Bombay Crepe with a straight greens ( 2 servings spinach and sparse kale ) salad along with chicken, grilled onions, curry, small perfectly boiled potatoes(which are one of my favorites), and mushrooms instead of Bell Peppers ( which cause me to break out in Hives ) in a savory soft crepe fold. The sweet potatoes fries were over cooked and limp unlike at Barney's up the street — however if you are looking for a healthier option than a Burger, CrepeVine is a great place:
Prompt Service ( waitress clearly identified me and a minute after sitting down poured me a glass of house water while I read a book on Economics and patiey waited for Our food.
FYI : 3rd table in from widow against the right wall walking in is wobbly and you'll Spill water like me if not careful.
The 2 Oatmeal Cookies were delicious though dry- cavet : I'm glad there was no butter in them as I am intolerant of milk , however I wish they could have coconut oil added for the chew factor :)
Yummy food!
Definitely a favorite local lunch and...
Read moreHad never tried Crepevine anywhere cause i'm not usually a fan of chain restaurants but was craving crepes so we stopped here as we were in the area anyways.
Both of us shared a sweet crepe Alba which came stuffed with bananas, strawberries and nutella with chocolate sauce on top and 1 vanilla scoop and fresh cream on the side.
I've had my share of crepes growing up in Europe so wasn't impressed at all with this experience. I thought it was expensive $8.50 for how little the crepe was - definitely not to be shared. I felt the stuffing was too much and took away from actually tasting the crepe itself. Needless to day not enough chocolate in there...This 8mo prego lady definitely didn't get satisfied for her crepe craving :(
Service was fast and the place overall was pretty neat and clean. Huge bathrooms which is nice to see. Sadly won't return though...gotta find the...
