The Lumpia Company — Restaurant in Oakland

Beautiful location, great atmosphere, and delicious food is what The Lumpia Company has. Located in one of the old pier buildings, it's a huge place that serves as a little mini museum for the area of sorts if you roam around and read the little tidbits and facts about oakland and it's location history. They have a great looking outdoor eating area if you prefer to be outside or you can stick to the very roomy indoors. They only had 2 people working there when we went on a Friday so the orders were a bit slow to come out but the staff were super friendly and chill guys. While we waitednfor our food,we just went and played a few games at the arcade area. There's an arcade corner with a couple Arcade1up machines that let's you play any of the machines for free......yes I said free. Each of the machines has a ton of different games loaded onto it so if you see the Mortal Kombat arcade1up it's actually a Midway cabinet full of Midway games. 4 Player simpsons game was fun but 3's a crowd since player 2 joystick was missing and also cramming 4 people into that corner is hard but hey give them credit for having it in the first place.

We ordered the Garlic Noodles,Garlic shrimp, dole whip,and lumpia. The garlic shrimp was good although I thought it would be nice if they had more chunks of garlic in there and a more pronounced garlic flavor. The shrimps were nicely grilled and were plump and delicious. The Garlic Noodles they made were of the dry style and not the dripping wet with sauce kind that I love. It's decent enough but I wouldn't go for it personally a second time. We got the chicken lumpia and it was the star of our order. The wrapper was deep fried until it was a perfect golden brown crunchy beauty on the outside and flavorful mix of ingredients on the inside. The dole whip we got was thick ,almost like frozen custard thick which was amazing. The pineapple flavor whip itself is a good palette cleanser or desert for the oily food you just ate but try to sprinkle some of the Li Hing Mui powder they have at the counter to kick the flavor up a notch.

It's a great place to go with a bunch of friends or a huge party. There's definitely plenty of seating all around the pier even if all the seats are taken up in and outside of...

It's Not the spot. Instead, try FOB kitchen at 5979 Telegraph in Ave Oakland. It was just the welcoming and positive staff I needed after being shunned and having the window slammed in my face earlier that afternoon at "The Lumpia Company" located on 24th St in Oakland. Their hours of operation were drastically different on line than their actual store hours. I arrived 5 min after they'd apparently closed. They kept changing their minds on whether to place my order or not. First they said they would accept the online mistake and honor my order, but then returned and said no, and to come back next day or go home and make them myself with some frozen one's he would sell to me at a small discount, then closed, or proceeded to close the window while I stood there. He pointed to their window sign explaining that they closed at 2pm. However, their website said they closed at 9pm. I can be pretty easy going, but this was unacceptable and felt they displayed cheap & foul customer service. Especially after I'd driven 30 min in just to try out their place, which I had also mentioned to them. Advice to that crew: Please don't get so comfortable with your good food reputation, that your value with people/ customers start to slip. I've seen great places in Oakland come & go due to bad business. And clean that window too! I found FOB Kitchen on 5979 Telegraph Ave later that day and was more than happy & satisfied with their amazing food, (Lumpia and more ) an awesome inviting staff, and great customer service. I recommend FOB to others looking for mouth watering, authentic Filipino food, (delicious Lumpia) a cool bay area - small restaurant vibe, easy pricing and great overhead music inside/outdoors. The food was really tasty! I had the grilled shrimp garlicky flavor it was so good! They ran out of garlic rice so steamed rice was served. The bacon cheese burger lumpia was really good too. Atmosphere was great! Good amount of tvs for sport games. Dj music booth no dj and TV outside. Music way to loud so could talk to your guest. Vibe was nice! This place has plenty of potential!

They are still working out the details it felt like. The staff is still learning. No way you can hear your number called if you outside. We had to go to counter to check on food.

The cashier didn't know you can add a lumpia for $3 for each meal. Train the cashier please. He really seemed lost.

The cabbage slaw was completely dry. I think they forgot to toss mine. I emprovised by pouring the pink sauce that came with it or maybe that is how it is made.

Parking is terrible over there so be prepared to walk.
