Wawa Thai Food, Scrumptious take-out fun.
I recommend, it’s a deal.
My husband who came from Oklahoma had hard time in California while he figures out what Asian food is. Chewing raw piece of fish and smelling semi-rotten sauce might be challenge. After thriving in Bay Area for about 20 years, he certainly became Asian.
He found Wawa Thai and brought two curries and noodle dish. Curries were pleasantly sweet and fresh. Lemongrass was fresh and bergamot orange leaf was plenty to build that aroma.
Ever since he got qualification from me. He ordered from Wawa when we didn’t want to cook. His favorite is Tum Gai, sweet spicy and creamy soup, with chicken. I tried Pad Tai, Pad Si-yu, and other noodle dishes. Tum Gai and Tum Yum, both insanely good. And I had mixed feeling about noodle dishes. Thing is, that is Wawa’s seasoning style. Personality I prefer strong soy sauce flavor, but it forces to use lot of vegetable oil. Surely noodle gets greasy. Wawa’s seasoning on noodle is subtle, and that brings other flavors of ingredients.
They comes with 3 levels of spiciness; mild, medium, and spicy. I haven’t figured out what makes that level, but the spiciness is perfect with cold beer. Over a month, Wawa’s kitchen got better. They start to serve with their own fried chilly oil for free, and that oil is magical. It comes in small plastic container, and you gotta be careful not to pour on your plate. Again, that chilly oil is awesome. Just be respectful.
I wrote review right after I tried Pad Si-yu with beef. Beef was chewy, and I haven’t added beef on any other. I saw respectful aged lady, and I believe mother’s power added on their chef line. Certainly their food got even better. For small but nice detail is, they use paper card board in the to-go package of the plastic bag. That’s for keeping the food container stable. I haven’t seen anyone put this much detail on take out package.
TMI: While I was waiting for pick-up, I met a nice African-American lady. Her favorite is ginger salad. We had good talk and I want to try...

Tom kha / tofu - excellent. Didn't think I'd like the whole cherry tomatoes but they totally work.
Green curry w/tofu - excellent. Beans not underdone, perfect spice level. Rice included which is nice touch.
Shrimp rolls - again excellent see original review.
Original review Ordered pickup, got the shrimp rolls, Kai Soi, and Eggplant Basil with seafood (spicy level "spicy").
Pickup service was super friendly. Ready in 20min. Easy parking.
Everything was delicious, fresh, and bright.
The shrimp rolls were perfect: golden crispy on the outside with that delicate crunch and tender inside. Really yummy.
Eggplant basil was outstanding. Intensely flavorful and had generous portions of both eggplant and seafood (scallops, shrimp, muscles, fish). Everything was cooked properly. Spice level perfect (I like spicy, but not "thai spicy"). Came with white rice. Picture is about 3/5ths of the order.
Kai Soi (curried chicken noodle soup) seems to be a house specialty. It's for my wife and I haven't really tried it yet, but it smells wonderful and a spoonful of the broth was delicious. Note bone-in chicken leg & thigh (which we like).
There's love and care in this food.
We will definitely be returning, I'm looking forward to trying the green curry, crab fried rice, and... well, kinda everything. There's also an...
Read moreCame here for lunch on a Monday at 1:30ish in January. Easy street parking. I was greeted immediately and was told to sit anywhere. There were lots of tables available! Modern decor and very bright with good natural light considering it's partially located in a renovated basement. The only suggestion would be to dress warm, cuz it was a bit chilly. I was lucky to sit at a table next to their small floor heater.
My food server was very helpful in recommending many different dishes for a party of one. The table next to me had an assortment of dishes, and my eyes locked onto their fried chicken & roti dish. For $18, it came with one big juicy and perfectly battered chicken breast topped with an over easy egg. Under that, was a large roti. It also came with a small side of pickled cucumber salad/relish and yellow curry sauce in a miniature gravy boat. Presentation was really pretty and the flavors were equally satisfying. I also ordered the Thai iced tea at $4, and it was rich and creamy! I found the pricing to be very reasonable for these two items, and I definitely will be back to try more of their appetizers (Kao Soi) and entrees (Drunken...
