Came in for lunch the other day and was pretty happy with the steak burrito. I was surprised by how much I liked the rice that came with it.

Our server wasn't the most attentive but our food came out super quick so I can't fault them too much.

I really like the choices in glass and dishware. The booths were a little cramped but it otherwise was very classy.

The most important thing I need to say though is how ATROCIOUS the "art" is. It's all very clearly AI generated garbage. I know that's harsh but I only say this because it really brought down what was otherwise a really good vibe. It's really disappointing to see an otherwise beautiful restaurant made worse by cheap computer-generated drivel. Seriously, look closely at the flowers or the buildings in the background. The images are soulless and oppressive. If the owner reads this, please, I beg you... I know restaurant margins are thin but just pay a real artist to create some murals for you. If you can't afford that, get some art prints that weren't made by a computer. If you can't do that, just take the AI stuff down. A blank wall would be an improvement over what you have right now, I promise.

For most people the art rant won't matter. This place has good food and I'd love it if a restaurant could finally stick around in that space. But yeah, terrible...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Catrina Cocina Mexicana in Ocala, and I can’t say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with warm smiles and a vibrant, inviting atmosphere that truly captures the essence of Mexican culture.

The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic flavors and beautifully presented. The ingredients were fresh, and you could taste the care and passion that went into each preparation. I highly recommend trying their signature dishes; you won’t be disappointed!

The highlight of our visit was the exceptional service we received from the staff. The bartender was particularly outstanding – friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled. They crafted delicious cocktails that perfectly complemented our meal, enhancing the overall dining experience.

It’s clear that Catrina Cocina Mexicana is dedicated to providing a top-notch dining experience. I highly encourage everyone to visit and support this fantastic local business. Whether you’re looking for a great place for a casual dinner or a special night out, this restaurant is a must-visit. I look forward to returning soon and trying more of their delightful offerings!

Feel free to adjust any details to better fit...

I went to dinner here 7/12/24 and I fear this place won’t be open long. We waited 10 minutes for a table which is 100% fine and anticipated, however it took close to 15-20 minutes to actually meet our waiter, Nestor. By the time Nestor arrived to take our drink order and greet us, we knew what we wanted but Nestor sped off and we didn’t see him for another 5-10 minutes. We then ordered some sangria and the street corn appetizer and our entrees (enchilada plate, tour of Mexico, rio grande and San Jose). I can’t eat corn because of my IBD but it looked good and the two people that ate it said it was good, however it was 7$ (1.25$ extra to have it off the cob) and it is a pretty small amount. The food took some time to come out which is fine BUT it was bland and just not good man. Anything that had chicken in it was in like huge tasteless chunks. The rice had corn in it which was not stated on the menu, I can’t eat corn so I couldn’t eat it. The couple we were with also had green beans in their burritos?? Overall a very disappointing dinner. Latino y mas is the same price point and is leagues better, el toreo is fairly cheaper and is...

Yeah! It just opened (a "quiet, soft" opening) today, 04/08/24. Lucky me! The upbeat Latino music is nice and not blasting! There are huge, contemporary, tastfully-placed murals on the walls. The brand-new interior is appeasing to the eye -- black and creamy light biege. The presentation of the food is on their new, shiny, black, ceramic dishes. I had the Gringo Tacos. These chicken tacos were tender and well-portioned. The obligatory chips & salsa had a tasty (yummy and thick) salsa dipping sauce. The soft taco were served with a wonderful tomatillo-based nice with just a touch of kick. Very nice! My server, Oscar, was pleasant and attentive. Certainly, it has a nice menu with lots to offer. The dessert list looked nice, but, alast, I was too full to indulge (at least this time). On the way out, I noticed that when it is nice outside, there is a dining patio available! BTW, the bar is awaiting a full-liquor license soon! So, I can't give you a margarita review...yet!

Entering for the first time, the restaurant is well designed and comfortable. High end designs with murals and pictures give the Mexican flare. Booths are the main seating with high backs to afford some privacy. The most important piece is the food. The guacamole came in a stone bowl with the ingredients laid out on the top. One just has to mix it up. Nice presentation and touch. Great tasting too. The tacos El Pastor were very tasty as well. If I lived in Ocala, this would be one of my favorite places to dine. Another nice touch is that water is poured and a bottle is left on the table. I am impressed with Catrina Covina as you might be able to tell. Oscar was our waiter and his demeanor made us feel comfortable. I hope this review is helpful. Before you go, look below and tap the thumbs up.

This place has a really nice vibe. The service was excellent. The establishment was very clean, and the choice of furnishings and decor make it stand out from about 90% of the restaurants in Ocala. The food was very tasty. I was a tiny bit disappointed with the size of the Chimichangas. They were like the size of an egg roll, probably smaller. For $20 it’s a bit disappointing. My brother ordered the tacos, and they were bigger. I was a bit confused. Lol. Other than that, the food was delicious. I’ll be back. I came back and got the large chimichanga. This is the one to get. Way bigger than those mini chimichangas. Lol. I was super full before I could finish my food. Definitely a better option.
