I have been going to Hungry Bear since 1981, when my Dad would take me there on Saturdays. Over the years I have enjoyed the food, did not mind the wait or the price. I understand it is a very small company and the prices are suitable to stay in business. Well, I had not been there in a few years so today February 20th 2021 my wife and I decided to swing in and grab lunch. I ordered the Papa Bear with fries and Im not sure but I think she got the Mama Bear. No cheese on either. When I grabbed a few fries I was disappointed because they didnt taste good and seemed as if they sat in grease. I opened the burger and again was disappointed. The bun was soggy or maybe even just thrown together. The burger wasnt bad but my wife and I are both having stomach pains about 6 hours later and this is the only thing we have eaten today. All in all I am disappointed that a staple restaurant that has been in my life for 40 years has such poor quality now. I hope the owner reads this and fixes the issues that are there. Id love to see Hungry Bear around...
Read moreOne star for PROFESSIONALISM! It was my first time ever going to this place and I didn't realize it was a drive thru on both sides. So I drove past the menu on one side of the building to come around on the other side where another car was being served. A lady came to the window to take my order I began with "I've never been here before, is there a menu I could look at?" And she advised me that I past by one on the opposite side of the building. I apologized and placed my order. Before the woman could close the window I hear a man in the kitchen yell "oh so they couldn't read the menu on the building?" And I immediately yelled back "sorry first time here!!". And I see him peak around the corner to see who I was(not to apologize, but just to look)... My thing is don't be rude for no reason, ESPECIALLY WHEN IM A PAYING CUSTOMER!!! POST A MENU BY EACH WINDOW ON YOU MICRO-SIZED RESTAURANT! AND SAVE...
Read moreIf you've never had this burger then by the time you're looking at this review I hope someone had the sense to look up its closing time, this place is notoriously difficult to grab a bite from due to its early close time. Their prime suspect on this investigation was the grandpa bear burger and a side of fries with the works. Now this is a burger with no equal and as the name makes it sound you definitely want a couch nearby to loosem the trousers after from the sheer size. With one bite I went to places I haven't been in years; something so simple done right, I highly recommend even if it takes a while to get there before they close do yourself a favor and get there!!!! Some slight things to prepare for though, if you plan on eating outside bring some comfortable standing shoes because not room exists to sit around which depending on how big your group or party is could potentially be...
