Been too long but stopped in Occacuan in April, 2025 on a dreary afternoon to grab a meal at D'Roccos. Jasmine, our great waiter filled us in that Dave and Carlos have taken over. Ambiance is srill great even if not a back patio day. Wines by the glass were delicious and menu still varied. Still the best place to hang out for a meal. Had to go with garlic bread as the fresh homemade bread was still rising to greet the dinner crowd. First impressions are the new owners have stepped up a good game woth more attention to detail and unique specials. Continue to love the fine line between casual and gourmet. Will add one line after eating now with a final.verdict....

OK final verdict, met Dave (owner with Carlos the chef). Great to see D'Rocco's remains a local joint with hands on ownership from food lovers. The movement from (almost impossible) sole ownership to a broader committed team shows. D'Rocco's has stepped it up - from.appetizers to entrees. Service remains fantastic - shout out to Justin - and I understand more is on the way. I will return and recommend a visit to all. MEMORABLE. Miss you Jim but your baby is in good hands.

Update, October 2022. When in Occacuan no place I would go to eat other than D'Roccos. As it was mid-adternoon and a lull in the day I met Jim (and the previous owner in person, and got a warm warm welcome. Today given the heat and humidity sitting in a booth in the air-conditioned interior. Chef making a tuna appetizer even though it was not on the menu. Perfect relaxing and satisfying end to a Saturday shopping day in Occaquan. Service, as always, impeccable.

And back again on a glorious Saturday. Gary was an impeccable waiter and the caprese salad (thanks Just m) and lobster ravioli with cream sauce was superb. View from the back deck the best in Occacuan. Proprietor out on a run but hope he sees this and commends his top quality staff. I will return!

Adding on to stellar review, our fantastic waitress Courtney Y gets a shout out and the owner came by and we sang our praises directly. Have been coming to Occoquan for years (even have a brick at the Riverwalk Park) but were unaware of this gem. We often run up to l'Hermitage (also great) but great food in an informal setting means as good eating at a bargain price.

A well kept secret in Occoquan. Stopped at Madigans and was rudely told they weren't open (given their hospitality definitely crossed off my recommend list). In walking down to Riverfront Park saw D'Roccos and had a great Sunday late lunch/early dinner on the deck. The Lobster and Crab ravioli is amongst the best I have eaten (and I have seen many very good Italian joints). Prices are fair and waitress staff phenomenal. All cooking is fresh and homemade, my Italian partner raves about the chicken marsala and the calamari. My go to place for a meal in good company in the historic district. Authentic and without...

If I could I would give this restaurant no stars. My husband and wanted some authentic Italian restaurant so we were in the area and decided to try D’Roccos. BAD CHOICE! The customer service was horrible and the food was even worst. First to start I order spaghetti and meat balls , lemonade and ice tea mix with appetizer of fried ravioli. The waitress came back and told me they had no meat balls only meatballs for those who already order them and no fried raviolis. So I asked for calamari and chicken parmesan. It took several minutes for the waitress to come back and tell me they did not have calamari. My husband ordered fried cheese. Shortly after another waiter told me they didn’t have any lemonade did I want something else. Now this is when things started to become an issue. Everything I ordered they did not have. I am in an Italian restaurant how do you run out of meat balls.. and by the way the restaurant was not full of guest and I saw NOONE else order spaghetti and meatballs. Secondly I ask for lemonade and sweet tea why didn’t the waitress attempt bring me an ice team. The last straw for me is when I yet ANOTHER waiter a tall white male possibly the manager, who avoided my black husband and I the entire time. Came over and told me they had no ravioli left because they were slammed the night before. I attempted to argue the case that the people directly next to me had ravioli so did have some. He told me husband that he would give us baked ravioli on the house. When the ravioli and some soup I finally ordered came out. The soup was cold and the ravioli was not baked it was microwaved and tasted horrible. Time check my husband and I have been in this restaurant for 50 mins with no food! When the food came out it was Absolutely HORRIBLE! The chicken Alfredo was butter sauce and the chick Parmesan was watered down with what tasted to be over cooked old chicken. I have not been treated so poorly in a restaurant than I did today. It would the best interest of the owner to fire the entire staff or train them on race and customer service. Please if your black run and if you care DONT GO HERE … listen to the last...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at D'Rocco's An Italian Joint, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately put me at ease.

The food at D'Rocco's was delicious. I tried the chicken parmigiana, it was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. From the perfectly cooked pasta to the mouthwatering sauces, each bite was a delightful explosion of Italian goodness. Whether you're a fan of classic Italian dishes or looking to try something new and innovative, D'Rocco's has something for everyone.

The ambience of the restaurant was relaxing. The soft music, and comfortable seating created a cozy and intimate setting, perfect for a romantic dinner or a gathering with friends. The decor added a touch of elegance and the stylish design made it a visually pleasing dining experience.

The restaurant was impeccably clean and it made me feel confident in the hygiene standards of the establishment. It's always reassuring to dine in a spotless environment, and D'Rocco's definitely delivered on that front.

What truly made my experience memorable was the exceptional service provided by our server. He went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From his extensive knowledge of the menu to his friendly and attentive demeanor, He made me feel like a valued guest. His recommendations were spot-on, and he anticipated my needs before I even had to ask. The level of service provided by the server truly elevated our overall experience at D'Rocco's.

In conclusion, I highly recommend D'Rocco's for anyone seeking a delightful dining experience. The delicious food, relaxing ambience, cleanliness, and the outstanding service provided by Chad make it a standout restaurant. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual evening out, D'Rocco's is the perfect place to indulge in the...

This is one of those places that I think is kind of like an upscale Olive garden. I hate to say that but the food was just okay. We were sold on this place by the rave reviews about the calamari, however, the calamari was sold out. No big deal. It must have been that good right? Turns out the food was just mildly okay Italian food. We ordered the crab and lobster ravioli as well as the chicken alfredo. We got both a soup and salad with our meal, a bit of an upcharge. I felt like for the upcharge I could have used a bit more salad. I got the Italian salad dressing and that was delicious. I just could have used a little more salad to go with it. The soup was tomato basil and the soup itself was good but it was very acidic. Still, it needed a little more of something to cut the acidity. For our meals; the chicken alfredo which was delicious and the lobster and crab ravioli. I think the Alfredo was nice and rich, creamy and buttery. It was definitely fattening but delicious. My crab and lobster ravioli was just okay though. The lobster and crab puree inside of the ravioli was tasty. The rose sauce was just far too acidic and by the end of the meal I didn't want to eat anymore because my throat was burning. The garlic bread did have good flavor, but it was a little overcooked. It was just a little too crispy and could use a little more garlic and parsley and everything else that makes garlic bread delicious. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't anything to rave about. All the while this was happening, the owner of the restaurant was sitting a couple seats over. He was clearly intoxicated and was talking about how his wife was going to be upset when he got home because she would smell the alcohol. He was very loud and it made for a little bit of a less pleasant atmosphere. Because the food was just okay and there wasn't anything spectacular to rave about, I wouldn't choose to return here. Like I said, it's more of an upscale olive garden.

New to area so I asked a co-worker where is a good place to to get Italian food. I was told, "There is a placer near a water front I have always want to go to called D'Rocco's" When we pulled in a couple was leaving so I asked, " How was it?" "Great" was one answer and "Well worth the money" was the other. With that we went in. Chicken Parmesan with a house salad and a Meat Ball and cheese sub was our order. I wanted to grab a glass of wine but the Nero D'Avola was only sold by the bottle and I did not want that much. First - House salad was chopped to fork size bites and full of sun dried tomatoes, Greek olives, banana peppers and fresh shaved Parmesan. Dressing tied it all together so that every bit was delicious. Second- Chicken Parmesan and Meatballs sub arrives and the portions are large and plates look beautiful. Chicken was breaded evenly and crispy on the outside, moist through out and a flavor that tasted like Mom made it in the old iron skillet- so to me it was perfect! Sauce was thick with herbs and seasoning not to much but enough that every bit was the same. Linguine had just enough sauce to cover. Garlic bread was on point crust was perfectly covered with garlic butter. Meatballs sub was very good large beef meatballs and plenty of sauce for every bit. Total out the door was just over 30.00 and worth every penny. Note - there are two sides to the restaurant seating area grill side (more family / old school design) and dinning room side (Italian dinning room style / fancy). Owner took the time to talk with everyone and staff was the perfect balance of taking care but not inturpting the meal. I will be back and I will be bringing people as this is an amazing restaurant.

I am an honest reviewer with a experienced pallet. Started with the tomato and mozzarella and mozzarella moons, they were average, nothing I will remember. My black coffee was okay, beans were moderately burnt which is expected when asking for coffee in the evening on a holiday. Tomato basil soup was close to being great, if the chef can decrease the acidity it would be special. Ambiance still maintains that haunted house vibe, go upstairs to the bathroom if you want to see real ghosts. I had the mahi mahi as my entree: extremely disappointing, dried fish, what appears to be canned vegetables and oven backed french fries. Staff is great though. Don't come here if you have expectations above what could be made in a microwave. EDIT: me any my family all have stomach aches driving home and can't stop taking about the canned veggies. Was informed there was a new chef training... This place won't exist on the maps for more than 5 years.
