I could overlook those 2 points. I like supporting small businesses. BUT, when it comes to service they are either a poorly organized or understaffed organization. The last 2 times I've been there with my family, we have had to experience much longer than average wait times. After ordering some custard treats, it took 25+ minutes to get them. We also tried the call-to-pickup option. We placed a pizza order at 5:30 and they told us it would be ready in 30 minutes. Got to the restaurant at 6:00 and they informed us it wasn't ready and that "it will be right out". 30 minutes later it wasn't ready. I was then told "a big order came in before yours". So about 45 minutes after it was promised the pizzas finally came out. Afterwards there was no incentive from Third Base to make up for the inconvenience. No "here is a coupon" or "have a free custard cup on us" to make it up. It was as if my standing around didn't matter to them. And I've been present when other people complain about their delayed orders. So this is not a rare occurrence.
Not only are they terrible getting food out, but taking orders as well. I overheard a Grub Hub guy, after checking the order he was picking up, state that there were some ordered items missing. Not surprised at all. He was still there after we had finsihed eating.
Now you would think that during this COVID pandemic, they would make an effort to clean and clear tables quickly. Well, that wasn't the case either. I saw outside dining tables filled with empty wooden pizza trays left untouched for 20+ minutes. I saw no real and diligent "cleaning". So I'm puzzled how in one review I read someone could state it was a "clean place". This was not the case at all.
I always give a benefit of doubt, but after my last 2 visits Third Base has permantly lost my business as they are full of excuses and...
Read moreMy wife had been wanting to try this place for a while, and today we finally did. We were greeted by who we think was the owner who was very friendly. We sat outside (indoors lacked AC) and took one of the picnic tables with bird droppings on it. A few minutes later a server came to wipe it down and take orders.
This place is very pricey for what it is. Their pizzas look a lot like &pizza, only a little bigger but a lot more expensive and you only get two toppings included (unlike unlimited at &pizza). I compare it to them because the pizzas are shaped and cut the same, and have basically the exact same crust, only with a lot more cornmeal). The pizzas tasted similar too, which isn't a bad thing. We had a few pizzas with the kids, and one of them was the amazing Korean Fusion pizza. I have no idea where I can get something similar to that one, but wow, it was awesome! Unfortunately service was the pits. The guy who greeted us was hustling in and out helping lots of customers. The guy who was assigned to us was useless. He didn't check on us, when he brought our pizzas said he would get us refills (they use small disposable cups) but never did. We had to bring them inside ourselves to get refilled. No offer for a box. When we asked for the check, he said he would get it. 10 minutes later he came back and asked us if we wanted to see the desert menu - forgetting we wanted the check. I wised up and went inside to pay. Be aware, they add a 3.5% fee if not paying with cash.
I feel the food is good (the Korean was amazing, the more traditional pizzas were fine), but service was crummy and the place is either eclectic or dumpy based on your point of view. I know it is a converted old home, but with the high prices, I expected at least a little money would go into the place. I wanted to give this place a 2.5, but Google requires whole stars and I can't in good conscience give it 3 with all...
Read moreDisgusted at our most recent experience. We enjoyed this establishment until recently. The owner seemed to have hired kids or folks who clearly were not ready to work at a family friendly establishment.
A worker was talking loudly with the other young kids in the kitchen about visiting, "Paper Moon." A strip club in Springfield, he was loud and mentioned something about white people being racist or something. We initially thought he was drunk. We watched him and other workers who wore no gloves or mask, wiping the sweat off their forehead and touching the pizza. We watched them cook pizzas, touching the work phone, cell phones, sweat and then touching peoples food.
We have friends who experienced a similar experience. Due to the unhygienic experience of what we witnessed, will have to report it and also we have loved ones who will also be leaving reviews with experiencing this situation on their own occasions where they were bewildered with the actions of the young workers and the lack of hygiene.
The fact that people are trying to enjoy their dinner and have to listen to a kid talk about strip clubs and say other inappropriate things is why this establishment has lost loyal customers.
Lastly, shortly after we left - a group of my colleagues came and said they were baffled by the music playing with the N word being said multiple times and f word etc. Their children were with them and were shocked at how a pizza ice cream family joint would do this.
If the owner is reading this, please handle immediately as we all plan to return soon to see what changes...
